Some Ideas on Where to Travel This Year – Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards 2020

If you need inspiration on where to travel in 2020, check Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards 2020 results. Asian destinations are featured heavily in various categories – and we are happy to see more and more travellers appreciate their beauty.

Namibia tops the '10 best countries for travel in 2020' list with 96.47 percent of votes – wow, what a result! Peru is ranked second (96.33%) and Laos made it up to the third place (96.25%) – congratulations!

Also on the list are New Zealand, Japan, Tanzania, Canada, Kenya, Vietnam and India.
Interestingly, Vietnam was named the most popular destination online meaning that Wanderlust website visitors feel more curious about Vietnam than about other countries.

Gold, silver and bronze of the 'Top emerging destinations' category goes to Kyrgyzstan (100%), Iran (96.36%) and Uganda (94.67%). Bolivia comes the fourth and Tajikistan – the fifth. No Asian countries were mentioned in this category.

Kyoto, that for many embodies the essence of Japan, was named first among the 'Top cities', and we could not agree more! Singapore won the silver and Cusco is on the third place.

Other travellers' favourite city destinations across the globe include Seville, Cape Town, Amsterdam, Istanbul Siem Reap, New York and Vancouver – congratulations to Cambodia.

Sri Lanka is the country that got spotlight as a 'Back on the map' destination. Tourist numbers are still down after the 2019 Easter terrorist attack, but travel advisories are lifted now and Sri Lanka, boasting wonderfully rich cultural heritage, amazing beaches and exquisite food lures travellers back.
