Phu Quoc Beaches

Known as “Paradise Pearl Island,” Phu Quoc is home to white sand beaches, turquoise and emerald waters, and some of the most splendid orange and pink sunsets we’ve ever seen. There are dozens of beaches to choose from, and we’ve narrowed it down to the best!

Long Beach (Bai Troung)

Starting with the most popular and developed is Long Beach (Bai Truong). This 20-plus kilometer stretch of yellow sand is home to the majority of Phu Quoc’s hotels and resorts.

This beach is also one of the more easier ones to access, and you’ll find the northern part of the beach is more busy and lively, while the southern end is calmer with fewer crowds.

This beach is ideal for getting your fill of everything an island offers: here you’ll find vendors selling fresh fruit, spots to play games, restaurants where you can simultaneously eat seafood with your feet in the sand, and massage services. What is more relaxing than getting a massage while listening to the ocean waves and smelling the salty sea? Additionally, this stretch of beach faces the west, so you will get to admire Phu Quoc’s famous sunsets.

Dai Beach (Bai Dai)

Long rumored to be Phu Quoc’s most beautiful beach is Dai Beach (Bai Dai), and it was until recently sparsely developed. The white, soft sand and still emerald waters attracted resort developers, and this beach is now home to golf resorts, theme parks, and world-class resorts.

That being the case, it is a bit more difficult to access unless you are a guest at one these resorts (VinPearl Resort being the most prominent one.) Much of the beach is still undergoing construction, so it may not be the most ideal beach spot at the moment, but there are still small and undeveloped areas towards the southern end that are worth the trouble of finding them.

If you want to avoid paying the resort fees to access Dai Beach, we suggest getting a good map of the western side of the island, and the roads will guide you to access points for beaches. Note that some roads may be muddy and unpaved, but we think the beaches you’ll find on Phu Quoc are well worth the effort!

Vung Bau

South of Dai Beach is a moon-shaped bay surrounded by thick, green jungle. Visiting Vung Bau is a must, as resort development is likely to overwhelm the beach soon. This beach, for now, is both private and peaceful. The sand is white, the waters are very calm, and the breeze ruffles the tall grass that grows close to shore, creating a truly tranquil environment.

Beachgoers feel so comfortable in this secluded spot that they may even forego bathing suits. Pack a picnic basket, settle into the sand with a good book and enjoy the peace and quiet of this picture-perfect spot.

Sao Beach

On the southeast side of the island is the stunning Sao Beach. The white sand contrasts with vibrant green tropical trees and the blue-sapphire color of the water. Sao Beach is a favorite due to its abundance of beachside restaurants. Enjoying pizza and a cold beer on this beach might be peak vacation-bliss. Or opt for a grilled fish with gin and tonic and you’ll think you’ve found heaven. This beach is more crowded, especially during the months of December to March, but the beauty makes it worth sharing with other tourists.

Which beach to choose?

These are just a few of the many beautiful beaches Phu Quoc has to offer. Be sure to get a map and do some exploring of your own as there are many off-the-beaten-path beaches that offer all of the splendor of Phu Quoc’s popular beaches without the crowds.
