Trat Hotels, Guesthouses and Resorts

As Trat is mostly used as a base for reaching the islands off its coast, most of the accommodation here is not the most luxurious, but there are a number of good value and comfortable options available.

The two main areas of Trat are the old quarter, which is home to lots of quaint guesthouses, and the city centre, where you'll mostly find cheap hotels that lack atmosphere but are good value and well-kept.

The old quarter is suited to those who want to explore a bit more and enjoy a livelier atmosphere, whilst the city centre area is conveniently located, as it’s close to the bus station, hospital and markets.

Old Quarter

All of the guesthouses in the old quarter are cheap, so backpackers can easily find a place to stay without booking. A lot of the guesthouses are very similar to each other, but there are several that offer slightly better value for money. Most of the guesthouses can be found on either Rhak Muang or Thana Charoen Road.

A popular choice for a stopover in Trat is Rimklong Boutique Hotel (194 Rakmuang Road, double room THB900), as it's extremely good value and the staff make you feel at home. They also offer a good breakfast set, and there’s even an inhouse coffee shop.

For something a bit more quirky and unique, there's Artist Place (East Thana Charoen Road, double room with air con THB800). Each of the 12 rooms has been individually designed, and it's located in a very peaceful area of Trat. Guests can also enjoy a stroll around the charming gardens, complete with Buddha statue, and the owners also own a nearby restaurant, Pier 12, where you can go to have breakfast.

There are also some good options available for those on a tighter budget, including Garden Home Guesthouse and Ban Jaidee Guesthouse. Garden Home (87/1 Rad-anuson Rd, rooms from THB150) is one of the cheapest accommodations in Trat, and whilst it may not be perfect, the quality is good when you consider the price. It's owned by a very sweet old lady who will treat you more like a houseguest than a paying customer. N.P on the other hand is basic but well-kept, with spacious and clean rooms.

Another popular choice in the old quarter is Ban Jaidee (67-69 Chaimongkol Rd, double room THB200). It’s a family-run guesthouse right in the heart of the old quarter, and it really feels like a home away from home. It's only a few minutes’ walk to the night market, and the owners are always happy to give tips on where to go and what to do in the area. It is very popular though, so if you want to stay here you'll definitely have to book in advance.

City Centre

If you'd rather stay in a hotel than a guesthouse, head to the city centre, where there are a few unexciting but well-priced options.

Trat Center (45/46 Tedsabarn 5 Road, double rooms from THB500) gets great reviews, as it is good value for money, the rooms are very clean, and the staff are friendly. There are several other comfortable but basic hotels nearby too, including Trat City (411/17 Moo 2, double rooms from THB900) and S.A Hotel (45 Terdjaray Rd, double rooms from THB500).

Along the Coast

If you are planning on visiting the southeast coast of Trat, there are several resort options available, depending on your budget.

Mairood Resort (28 Moo 6, rooms from THB600) is a good option that caters to any budget, with many guests raving about the quality of the accommodation and the beautiful nature in the surrounding area. They have several different priced rooms, ranging from budget to luxury. The grounds are compared to a luxurious tropical park, and many guests have such a good time that they return for a second visit! The owner really goes out of his way to make you feel at home.

Several midrange to luxury options include Centara Chaan Talay Resort (4/2 Moo 9, suites from THB1,400) and Mango Beach Resort (61/5 Moo 2, double rooms from THB2,000). Both are perfect for couples and families seeking some relaxation and privacy, and the facilities at both resorts are excellent. For example, Centara has its own private beach, Mango offers kayak hire, and both have an outdoor swimming pool.
