Qatar Airways to Fly to Langkawi from October

Qatar Airways, the state-owned flag carrier of Qatar, introduces flights between Doha, Qatar, and the island of Langkawi, Kedah, Malaysia this October.

Langkawi becomes the third destination in Malaysia for the airline that already flies to the capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur and to Penang, a popular tourist destination. The Doha–Langkawi flight will run between Hamad International Airport in the Qatar capital city of Doha and Langkawi International Airport, with a short transit in Penang.

The maiden flight is scheduled for October, 15. During the initial 12-day stage the route will be served four times a week – on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Beginning October 27 the frequency will be increased to 5 time a week with one more flight added on Friday.

All flights will be performed on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft accommodating 22 Business Class and 232 Economy Class passengers.

The representatives of the airline said since they had introduced service to Penang they received a lot of requests for adding Langkawi to their route network. As Langkawi remains one of the most popular tourist destinations in Malaysia, the demand is always high. The airline expresses hope their service will contribute to boosting tourism on this beautiful archipelago. It became known that Qatar Airways are also eyeing other destinations in Malaysia to add to their portfolio but they are still in the planning stages.
