Sakura in Bangkok? It's High Time to Enjoy It Blooming

No, it is not famous sakura trees we are speaking about. Rosy trumpet tree, or Tabebuia Rosea, is often dubbed 'Bangkok sakura' for its branches covered all over with gentle pink flowers – from almost white to saturated pink – during the blooming period. And it can be observed right now!

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration invites tourists and residents to enjoyspectacular blooming of Bangkok sakura in Chatuchak Park. Rosy trumpet trees are now infull bloom there and look amazingly similar to sakura flowers of Japan. There are 1,179 pink tabebuia trees in the greater Chatuchak Park with 509 growing in the originalChatuchai park and 670 more – in the connected Rot Fai or Vachira Benjathat Park. The best pictures can be shot both in the park and around the fence along Phaholyothin Road.

Other ornamental trees and flowers that bloom in Thailand in April include:
Golden cassia, the national flower of Thailand. While it is in full bloom almost all across the country, the most spectacular cassia clusters can be seen in Khon Kaen and Pak Chong in Nakhon Ratchasina province, both in the Northeast; as well as in Lamphun, in the North – in soi Liap Mae Mam Guap.
Lotus flowers and water lilies are at there best in April in the south of the country, on Thale Noi reservoir in Phatthalung province.
Tulips! Sounds strange but yes, you can see tulips blooming in Thailand. In Rayong, on the Eastern Seaboard, there is a flower festival in Princess Sirindhorn Garden featuring over 60,000 flowers. This year the festival takes place from April, 6 till April, 21.
Sunflowers are a signature flower of Lopburi in November, but in April Ayutthaya and Ang Thong together with Wat Muang feature a lot of these sunny flowers. In Ang Thong April is also the month of calendula flowers colouring Wiset Chai Chan all shades of yellow and orange.
