Pyin U Lwin Myanmar – Best Value Hotels and Guesthouses

Many towns in Myanmar don’t have a large selection of accommodation as many guesthouses are not licensed to house foreigners. Happily, Pyin U Lwin has a comprehensive mix of places to stay and you can choose from high-end hotels to budget guesthouses.

Useful Tips on Choosing Accommodation in Pyin U Lwin

One of the big draws in Pyin U Lwin is the hotels which are located in restored colonial buildings. These are however owned and run by the government so you will not be contributing to small local businesses if you choose to stay in one of these. We will not list these upscale places as they are easy to spot but concentrate on more budget-friendly digs instead.

One thing to also note in Pyin U Lwin is that prices may fluctuate according to the season. This means that you can get some good discounts and deals in the rainy season from June to October. This can be a rather damp time to visit the city but the prices are very competitive. In the high season from November onwards prices tend to rise considerably and you may wish to book a hotel before you arrive in the city.

Budget

If you are on a budget then you can choose from places such as the Golden Gate Resort Guest House on Club Road. This is one of the newer hotels in town and you will find small houses here which are set in a scenic garden. These cost USD 20 for a single and USD 35 for a double, and come with hot water and a television.

This establishment also has some newly built traditional mud huts that you can stay in and costs USD 40 for two guests or USD 60 for a family room. Breakfast is also included and they do bicycle hire for KYT 2,000 per day.

If you want to stay in the town centre then you can choose the Bravo Hotel which is one of the cheapest spots in town and you can get single rooms from USD 15. Double rooms are USD 25 and come with private bathrooms and televisions. Another choice in the same price range is the Golden Dream Hotel on Lashio Road. Rooms here are between USD 6 and 16 but they are dark and come with a shared bathroom which may not be suitable for all guests.

Another choice is to stay in the Garden Area of Pyin U Lwin and one of the best choices around is the Dahlia Hotel which has double rooms with a hot shower from USD 15 in the low season. They also have a full breakfast and WIFI.

Another good choice is Motel 99 on SaGaWar Street which is around 2 kilometres away from the centre of town. Rooms are between USD 20 and 40 and come with air conditioning and hot water. There is also a delightful rooftop bar here which has some lovely views all over the city and is the perfect place to relax with a drink after a long day of sightseeing.

If either of these hotels is fully booked then you can also head to the Sweety Land Hotel on Club Road which is close to the main Golf Club and Botanical Gardens in Pyin U Lwin. Here you will find a new hotel which has large clean rooms which come with satellite television and Wi-Fi. This is a favorite of local domestic tourists visiting Pyin U Lwin and rooms cost between USD 20 and 40 depending on the size and the season.

Mid-Range

If you have a larger budget then you can go for the Kandawgyi Lodge which is part of a colonial bungalow and is one of the more upscale choices in town. Rooms here are between USD 50 and 60.
