Taman Negara Hotels and Resorts

Fortunately for travellers, the market price for lodging in Taman Negara is unbelievably affordable. The prices are well below what you would expect to pay for the host of amenities included at the variety of accommodation options.

All but one of the places to stay are located just on the other side of the Tembeling River. These places are only a stone’s throw away from the river and many have expansive views of the stunning far-reaching rainforest. These places are significantly cheaper than staying within the park itself and present no real inconvenience to visitors who wish to explore the hidden gems in Taman Negara over a few days. A very short, scenic boat ride will get you to and from the park at all hours of the day for as little as MYR 1 per person.

Budget

Rayyan Hostel is the ultimate low cost lodging and gets a big thumbs up from its budget backpacker crowd. Those looking to spend their money on meals upon floating restaurants or activities in the park instead of on accommodation can save a decent chunk of change here. Fortunately this can still be done without skimping on comfort or convenience. The hostel only offers dorm rooms with the option of a fan or air-conditioning. The prices are as low as MYR 20 for a bed in a fan room and MYR 25 for a bed in an air-conditioned room. With the freshly spruced and recently renovated bathrooms, friendly staff and good location, those on a budget have hit the jackpot with Rayyan’s.

Dakili House is also hard to compete with if you’re looking for a cheap night’s stay while in Taman Negara. The colorful and feel-good guesthouse is located on a hill overlooking the bubbling river. There is also a scrumptious restaurant with daily BBQ’s and local, affordable grub. The cheapest of the rooms at Dakili House cost a mere MYR 38 a night, and include a continental breakfast and free Wi-Fi. This room has a shared bathroom but for an additional MYR 20 you can opt for a room with a private en suite should you wish. This is a great option for trekkers returning after a strenuous day exploring the ascents and descents of the rainforest looking for a tasty meal on-site and a comfy spot to crash for the night.

Mid-Range

In the mid-range bracket, there are several options out there. Hana Guesthouse is one of the best, offering a fantastic package and a very comfortable stay for MYR 90 for the night. All their rooms come with an en suite bathroom and the rare rainforest-luxury of Wi-Fi in the room. The warm and welcoming owner sweetens your experience further with his genuine charm and excellent breakfasts.

Catering for a wide assortment of travellers and bank balances, Han’s Rainforest Resort seems to have it all. The resort has the only spa in the area, which simply cannot be overrated after a day of exhausted trekking in the jungle. Dorms go for as little as MYR 25, en suite rooms with a fan go for MYR 70, and if you need some air-conditioning to take the edge off, you’ll pay MYR 90. The crème de la crème of rooms at Han’s goes for MYR 250 and promises everything you could possibly want from a night’s stay with fine furnishings, beautiful decor and exquisite comfort.

Top End

If you’re able and prepared to cover the higher prices of Mutiara Taman Negara Resort, you’ll be rewarded with unencumbered exposure to the verdant and luscious rainforest from within the confines of the park itself. Dorm rooms with a fan go for MYR 150 a night, standard rooms go for MYR 360 and family rooms begin at around MYR 500. While the prices are significantly higher than lodging options just across the river, being the only resort in the park has its perks. Quiet, misty mornings with a cup of coffee and the sound of birds waking up from their slumbers, the rustle of bushes in the dark as wild pigs push through shrubbery – at Mutiara Taman Negara Resort your authentic exposure to the elements of the rainforest is unparalleled.
