Probably the first thing you will notice when you set foot in Hyderabad is that it is an extremely busy city. No wonder –what else can you expect from a city that is the capital of not just one but 2 states of India? It is not only a major industrial and business hub, but a tourist city as well and serves as a convenient base for many travellers who want to explore the wonders of Southern India.

That is the main reason for a great variety of accommodation options in the city suiting every budget. We picked up for you some of the most appealing digs in budget, mid-range and top end category for a memorable stay.

1. Apollo Film Nagar Guest House – Budget

Home stays are fast becoming an accommodation option of choice for the budget traveller. And this conveniently located home stay in Hyderabad is no different. It is a no frills option but does provide a private bathroom, wifi, TV, fridge and air-conditioning in all rooms. For a modest price of INR 1800 for a double room which includes the Asian style breakfast, Apollo Film Nagar is a good option for those who do not want to splurge on accommodation. It is located 21 km from the airport and 4.1 km from the Golconda fort – could we ask for more?

2. Beehive Hostel – Budget

Hostels are popular among solo travellers, especially backpackers and while it is a concept which has yet to catch up with in India, there are a few good options. One of them is the Beehive hostel, a family operated property located in the Banjara Hills area. With homemade food, warm hospitality and friendly conversations, this place would suit backpackers on a budget – expect to pay around INR 650 per bed in a 6 bed dormitory. The place is well maintained and spotlessly clean plus one can also get useful travel advice from the staff.

3. Hotel Neem Tree – Budget

Located just 50 m from the Undanagar Railway station and 5 km from the airport, we found Hotel Neem Tree to be a very good option in case Hyderabad is just a stopover. What is the best part about this place is that there is always someone at the front desk so even if one shows up here in the middle of the night, it is no problem at all. There is a range of accommodation options available starting from INR 900 for a non air-conditioned double room. Its price, proximity to the airport and the courteous staff make sure that your stay will be very pleasant.

4. Hotel Shyam – Budget

Another budget option that we discovered in Hyderabad was Hotel Shyam. Located in the heart of the city at Paradise circle, MG Road, this is another no frills option for a cheap stay in Hyderabad. With prices starting from INR 700 for a non-AC room, the hotel offers all the basic services that a traveller may need including laundry, WiFi, on-call doctor and others. It is also very conveniently located what makes possible to visit the city’s main attractions like the Charminar, Hussain Sagar, or Birla Mandir without any hassle.

5. Blueberry Service Apartments – Mid-range

Service apartments are a great choice for a family trip as they provide enough privacy along with the comforts and amenities of a hotel. We were pleasantly surprised when we chanced upon the Blueberry Service apartments. Each unit comes in a form of a spacious, well lit and airy room with practical furnishing. The place was clean and the food and service left us very satisfied. Although it is at a distance of 31 km from the airport, the executives at the front desk are more than helpful in arranging cabs and giving tips on travel in and around the city. Priced decently at INR 2000 per day for a basic setup, the Blueberry Service apartment is the property we highly recommend.

6. Palm Exotica – Mid-range

This one is for those who are looking for a really memorable stay in Hyderabad. With a number of activities and amenities ranging from swimming pools, indoor and outdoor games and a kids zone, the Palm Exotica is a perfect place when you are holidaying with your family. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and the service is very prompt and good. The food is also excellent, too, and the hotel in fact is a popular weekend getaway for the city dwellers as well. Prices start from INR 5000 a day and there are a few options available depending on your budget.

7. Papyrus Resort – Mid-range

Simply put, this is a place where you can let your inner child out. Styled along the lines of the Egyptians, this pretty resort offers state of the art facilities and has everything to make your stay a real fun. One can engage in a number of activities here and we couldn’t help but part take in a few games of beach volleyball here. There is a nice and clean swimming pool as well along with lush green gardens and the onsite restaurant offers some fantastic food. Gym and spa facilities are also available for the fitness freaks and while it is located a little away from the city, its proximity to the airport and wonderful ambience make up for that. Prices range from INR 2000 to INR 3500, but it is an experience in itself, especially if you are travelling with kids.

8. Dhola Ri Dhani – Mid-range

As Hyderabad is famous for its Nawabi culture, we were quite intrigued to learn that we could also experience the Rajasthani culture here. Around 11 km from Secunderabad, Dhola Ri Dhani is a themed resort where everything has been designed specifically to give us a taste of a Rajasthani village along with all the modern amenities. We were spell bound in the evenings there as over 2000 lanterns made the place sparkle. There are many avenues for entertainment and folk dance and music is arranged pretty regularly. A deluxe room with breakfast costs around INR 3500 and there are options for suites as well. It might be a little distance away from Hyderabad city, but is definitely worth the experience.

9. Westin Hyderabad Mindspace – Top End

If you are looking for a 5-star accommodation in Hyderabad, the Westin Hyderabad Mindspace is a good option. It is located in the heart of Hi-Tech city and offers state of the art facilities like 24-hour service, spa, swimming pool, gym, business centre and golf as well. There are a number of restaurants like Daily Treats, Kangan and Prego which dish out lip smacking food and are ideal for a business lunch as well. The prices range from INR 10,000 to INR 30,000 and the Westin Hyderabad Mindspace is a good option for business trips.

10. Golconda Resort – Top End

The Golconda resort is another 5-star option that you can find in Hyderabad. It is located very close to the city centre in Gandipet and the rooms contain all modern facilities and even a fireplace. Jacuzzis, swimming pools, spas, health clubs are just some of the features one can avail here and there are 4 restaurants to choose from in the resort. The rooms are luxurious and prices start from around INR 10,000 with a very friendly and helpful staff.
