Train #167 2nd Class Sleeper AC, Thai Railways (การรถไฟแห่งประเทศไทย), Jun 1, 2021
We really enjoyed our trip in the 2nd class sleeper carriage. We could sleep very well. We just did not understand why the train was standing for over 1 hour outside Bangkok. And as we had to catch a ferry, it was very tight when we arrived in Chumphon. Luckily the ferry provider who picked us up at the train station accepted to wait until 7:30 am. The train was 2,5hrs. late.

Train #83 1st Class Sleeper, Thai Railways (การรถไฟแห่งประเทศไทย), Dec 8, 2020
The staff are friendly and helpful. But the train is very old and noisy. After leaving like 30+ minutes late, it took an hour to get like 10 miles from the station. Literally this whole train was waiting at traffic lights. No signal prioritization or grade separation or anything. Then we seemed to stop every 20 minutes or so for the first part of the trip to pick up or drop off people. Honestly, this train could be like 2+ hours quicker if they ran express and got prioritization at road crossings. Our room was fine. But it wasn’t entirely clean and it definitely hadn’t been updated in forever. There was no food car so you’re on your own to pack food. I’m glad it had air conditioning but we couldn’t control it in our room so we froze. Better than the alternative I guess. Plus, man was it loud and bumpy! Bring earplugs or sleep may elude you. The train was fun and nostalgic but unless they update the entire system, it’s going to remain a novelty for most people rather than a viable transportation option.

Must say that overrall, it was more than a pleasant experience. The attendant that was looking after the carriage i was in was pretty helpful as in he ensured that i was awake some half-hour before the train arrived at Chumphon(i asked him to). Only one hiccup and that it would have been better if the reading light was working.

Train #171 2nd Class Fan seats only, Thai Railways (การรถไฟแห่งประเทศไทย), Feb 10, 2020
I thought is was quite horrible .... Getting the tickets was easy and we even left on time . But the journey took far more time than scheduled and there was no explanation for it ! I sat in the train from Bangkok to Chumphon for more than 10 hours instead of the 8 scheduled . The trains could also use some kind of update ! Come on , it’s the 20’s but not the 1920’s ... Never again ...

Train #39 2nd Class AC seats only, Thai Railways (การรถไฟแห่งประเทศไทย), Feb 4, 2020
I needed to collect my tickets out of hours, because my train left at 11pm. I telephoned the 12Go Asia office in an advance to discuss options on how to do this. They very kindly organised that a night security guard could give me my ticket. Thank you!! I was very happy with this option, otherwise i would have had to either go to the office during the day, then go back (a 2-hour round-trip), then go back again for the train, OR arrive at the station 3 hours too early for my train. But I was very disappointed to find the train was NOT a sleeper, just normal seats, so I didnt sleep - I chose a train because I cannot sleep sitting up on buses, etc, and thought night trains had flat-bed seats :(( But I dont think that the fault of 12Go Asia, except that the tickets were then very expensive for what they were - my ticket price showed 200 baht LESS than what i paid 12Go Asia, so I wasnt happy about that....

It was a pleasant trip. The only thing is that the information screen shows a wrong arrival time. The train arrived 1 hour later then scheduled in Chumphon and you don’t know what the arrival time will be. The staff was very helpful. Tip. Learn the people some basic English.

Train #43 2nd Class AC seats only, Thai Railways (การรถไฟแห่งประเทศไทย), Jan 14, 2020
Overall a great experience, friendly train staff and a nice journey. We received a free snack, and then a meal - totally unexpected given the low cost of the tickets! Train carriage had AC which was great to start with, but after a while the carriage was very warm and fans were turned on. Train arrived and set off on time, but we reached our destination about 1 hour late. Would use again, but make sure to allow plenty of time to make connections!

Seats were quite comfortable, reclined there was the possibility to have a good nap. We arrived 1 hour later. Air condition was very strong, it was so cold during the all journey. The stop for having lunch was okay. Cleaning of the bus is improvable.

Pretty comfortable for what I was expecting, sadly I wasn’t really able to sleep because the light was shining right in my face. Was also about 2 hours late but luckily the ferry company put me right onto the next one even though I was late

taxi SUV 4pax, Thailand Limo by Datum (บริษัท เดทัมกรุ๊ป จำกัด), Dec 31, 2019
Very efficient, polite driver who turned up early and was happy for us to take two stops en route. Only quibble is that I wish that our driver (and drivers in general) would not look at their phone and send messages when the traffic is going slowly. Also the car isnt enormous for 7 hours drive. But an efficient and good experience overall.

Super easy handling to get the ticket. The trip took 1 1/2 hours longer, which is caused by a construction site along the whole route. This is probably urgently necessary and also not too bad. An info before would have been quite nice. The train itself is okay. Relatively old seats, but air-conditioned. The staff is super friendly and there is a hot meal and as much water as you need.

It was a night train in Thailand so there will be issues such as stains on the blankets and people coming along trying to sell things to you, but it was fine. Arrived an hour or so late but thankfully we didn't miss our ferry to Koh Tao so not too big an issue in the end.

Train #167 2nd Class Sleeper Fan, Thai Railways (การรถไฟแห่งประเทศไทย), Aug 11, 2019
The train journey itself was pleasurable with relatively good beds and even though we did not have air-conditioning it was still doable with the heat. However, if you sleep on the top bunk, you won't get to sleep at all. The top bunk is much warmer and also very light as the bright lights of the train shine directly into your bed. The lower bunk is perfect though, as you can open the window and you are hidden away from the light by the top bunk. The beds are also relatively short. There is no food aboard the train, so remember to bring some! Also, we weren't sure but they do wake you up before you reach your destination.
