About Bundhaya Speed Boat

While some islands are now reachable by plane or are connected to the mainland with a bridge, ferries remain the only way to reach some of the most beautiful and amazing islands, hidden beaches, or other seaside destinations. Larger and slower car ferries carry vehicles and passengers around the world, but in certain cases, you will need to opt for a smaller yet faster express high speedboat or catamaran to reach your destination. While the latter does save you time, caution should be taken if you are prone to seasickness. When the sea is, rough high-speed boats which actually cut the waves are a better option than catamarans that ride the waves instead hence turning your journey into a rock-and-roll trip. To prevent or beat motion sickness, we recommend taking a special medication – consult your doctor prior to the journey. While on board, grab a seat on an open-air deck wherever possible.

Ferry trips offered by Bundhaya Speed Boat can be booked online – in an easy and hassle-free manner, without wasting your time visiting the booking office.

Bundhaya Speed Boat Ferry Types & Tickets Prices

High-speed fast ferries always hit the hardest on your pocket. If you need to save money, check whether some slower options are available on your route – usually the rates are much more affordable. It is a rule of thumb to check the length of the trip before booking. On longer routes, the difference in travel time can be huge. Note that not all ticket fares or classes are always available on any route. During peak seasons it is a good idea to make your booking in advance as the availability of more expensive private cabins is often limited. Opting for walk-in tickets on the most popular routes during these periods can result in long waiting queues. Some destinations have more than one pier or different piers for different ferry companies hence goes the recommendation to check the pier you leave from/dock at before your trip. Leave enough time before the departure to find your boat and check in. These procedures may take up to a couple of hours on international routes. Last but not least, some piers impose their own ‘pier fee’ on all arriving passengers. This fee is normally not included in your ticket price – keep this in mind.

Travel by Ferry: Pros & Cons

Pros of Ferry Travel

  • Taking a ship allows you to get to some of the islands, beaches, or seaside destinations which otherwise cannot be reached. While ferry travels can be time-consuming and sometimes make you suffer from sea sickness, the possibility of visiting the most paradise, secret, off-the-beaten-track destinations they bring you to usually compensates.
  • Ferry tickets can be booked online. It saves you time and secures your travel itinerary goes as planned. The advanced booking option is especially convenient when travelling during peak season periods, national holidays, or long weekends when there is high demand for tickets and on routes served by a limited number of vessels.
  • On some routes, you are able to choose the class of the ticket or cabin. There are private compartments or standard cabins with a number of extras included or not. Always check the conditions of your fare to take most of your trip.
  • Ferry travel is always fun. It allows you to see the places you visit or just pass by from a different angle. The majority of places look terrific – and totally different! – when viewed from the water. Sailing provides a great opportunity to shoot nice and unique pics and videos – do jump at it!

Cons of Ferry Travel

  • The major concern while travelling by water is motion sickness, which is a very annoying and unpleasant thing. Even if you have never experienced it before, there is no guarantee that the next ferry trip will run smoothly as well. Rough seas and speedboat journeys can make even the strongest stomachs beg for mercy. Follow our recommendations above and take your medicine half an hour prior to your trip. Taking a light meal before travel also helps – more chances to get seasick with an empty stomach.
  • Delays and cancellations are common for ferry trips as they highly depend on weather and sea conditions. It especially concerns travel during shoulder months or off-season. Rains, mossy seas, and stormy weather may interfere with your travel itinerary – try to keep it flexible and do not plan tight flight connections even during the ‘usually-good-weather’ season.

Bundhaya Speed Boat Company Reviews

We booked a transfer (speed boat) from Phuket to Koh Lanta and from Koh Lanta to Koh Phi Phi with Bundhaya and everything went perfect. The boad came on time, the check-in was super easy, and on the boat we felt safe the whole time.

Smooth check in process, speedboat left on time and was comfortable. Very helpful staff helped to load our luggage on and off the boat, which I really appreciated.

Overbooked, was mean to go straight to Phuket from Koh Lanta but they stopped at phi phi island and picked up more passengers then they realised it’s overbooked and no seats they had to get them out of the boat was just waste of time stopping.

The only suggestion would be to use a noise deflector from the motors. Good trip though and glad I didn’t go on a ferry instead.

Over 1 hour late. We had booked a direct connection, but there were stops at 4 islands, so we didn't arrive until 3pm instead of 1:30pm. Sometimes more people boarded than there were seats available.

Please take into account the sea conditions! With larger waves, 3 hours may be a challenge.

Nice boat, comfy seats. A conexion of 30min in Koh Lanta was not mentioned in the description, but it was ok.

Trip began prosperously by boat, then unclear where to transfer to bus. Stalled here for a long time and much hassle with people switching between vans. Had to transfer again in Krabi and then received little to no info. Legroom was very minimal in the vans. 45 minutes delay on the whole day, not too bad but felt unnecessary due to the many stops the second van made.

Very pleasant boarding in Langkawi. The upstairs office could pose difficulties for those solo travellers with large luggage. It would be great if the 12Go booking offered the VIP- we would have splurged (although maybe it was sold out- we booked pretty last minute) We are confused as to why our passports were collected and kept for the voyage- only to line up to retrieve it in Koh Lipe, and then get in the immigration line. Seems like a step could be saved if passengers were allowed to be responsible for their own documents, as they would on a plane or bus.

Excellent. The driver contacted me on messenger to unsure the hotel adress is right and told me the exact pick-up time. He drove safely, showed us the “check-in desk” at the pier. At the pier everybody was smiling and explained everything. They run across the pier to be sure nobody will miss departure. Speed boat was comfortable and fast. We arrived 1 hour 30

The Phuket-Ko Lanta boat was small and jumpy, but half loaded and thus comfortable. The Ko Lanta-Ko Lipe boat was overcrowded. So called “four seats” benches can seat three people OK, but the fourth person half seats and half hangs in the aisle, killing the back after an hour of such a trip. Overwise boat was good and ran on schedule.

It’s worth doing your research on the conditions. On this day the waves weren’t high (forecast at 0.3m) and the speedboat was absolutely fine to do the 1h30 crossing from Phuket to Koh Lanta. The boat was about 30/40 mins late but nothing major. Check in was easy and good service.

Ferry was almost on time. That was nice since I’ve learned during my trip that ferrys, busses etc in south east asia are rarely on time. It was super cold inside the ferry! It felt like ac was blowing cold air straight from north pole… Also arrival to ko lipe wasn’t that well organised.

Rassada Pier to Koh Lipe. First timers here. They got us to our destination on time, but do not expect a full size ferry nor for it to be a non-stop service. Speed boats are rough, hot and not designed for comfort. Original booking does not mention possible stops like Phi Phi and Lanta. Piers or docks at smaller islands are not safe nor designed for passengers with limited mobility. Fortunately the crew boys take care of loading and unloading your larger bags. Lots of warning signs under the ratings and they’re all valid. Ready them and you will get an idea of what to expect. If it’s a windy day with rough seas get ready for a s***show. Before you depart… Search google for how to overcome/prepare for seasickness. (Ear plug, wrist pressure points, meds or whatever might work for you.) Bring a bunch of plastic bags (for seasickness) Bring wet wipes for your dirty face after you become sick. Bring extra supplies to help other passengers trust me it’s for everyone’s benefit. Go buy as much patience as you can you will need it. Godspeed

Fast and on time. We arrived at the pier by car (there is a nice big parking lot behind the barrier, 100 baht per day). Checked in, we were given stickers. We sailed 10 min before the time, apparently everyone had already gathered. It took 40 minutes to get to Phi Phi Phi

Heaven & Hell. Phi Phi islands are heaven, these boats are hell.. fast, yes but this comes at a price.. This was the last boat back at 4pm. It was packed with ~50 people on board including staff + 10-15 pieces of sizeable luggage.. One of the workers (an older guy) who seemed to be packing people onto the boat felt it necessary to shout and be rude to the paying guests. Guests had to ask him to not shout aggressively because of children on board. It got quite heated, was unnecessary and made the guests feel like second class citizens, which is why I have scored this 2 stars.. this felt overloaded for the size of craft. It was not clear what the the maximum number was, normally I would expect this to be written somewhere. Thankfully the weather was perfect so the crossing was no problem. These boats are fast travelling around 55 kilometres/hour and very noisy. If you can bring ear plugs or noise cancelling earplugs it is advisable.

Got ripped off at saladan pier when we were all thrown into the back of open back trucks and demanded another 900 bhat to take us 25 minutes up the road. We negotiated down to 600 as our hotel was closer than they said it was but the end experience was very poor. The pier just down from the saladan pier has many taxis but they purposely do not stop there so that you are forced to pay their fee. We have taken many taxi’s in Thailand and this was hugely expensive and not worth the cost. Very uncomfortable journey.
