Giant Ibis Transport

Giant Ibis Transport launched operations in June 2015 and has since become one of the best and most modern transport operators in Cambodia.

The company is also a "4-Time TripAdvisor Travelers' Choice Award Winner (2026)", reflecting its strong reputation and service quality.

The operator is widely regarded as being more professional than many others in the country and has more in common with Western bus companies than some of its Cambodian rivals.

In Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, and Kep Giant Ibis buses depart from the company’s own bus stations.

In Sihanoukville, Kampot, and Ho Chi Minh passengers board busses at centrally located Giant Ibis ticket offices.

In Bangkok, there are two departure points – one in Bangkok’s backpackers’ district, Khao San Road, and the other by the 12go office near Makkasan Station of Airport Rail Link and just two steps from Hua Lamphong Railway Station.

Giant Ibis buses connect Cambodia’s capital of Phnom Penh with the country’s main tourist destinations: Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, Kep and Kampot.

Siem Reap

Phnom Penh–Siem Reap is the main route that Giant Ibis offers.

The duration of the journey is between 6 and 7 hours.
As the route enjoys great popularity, Giant Ibis operates between 5 and 6 departures a day.
There are both day buses and night buses between these two destinations.

Giant Ibis night buses are sleeper buses with three berths per row – one single berth and two more berths adjacent to each other.

Kep and Kampot

It is one and the same bus that plies the road between Phnom Penh and Kep calling to Kampot en route. The journey takes from three and a half to four hours respectively.

As Sihanoukville is having tough times here with a lot of construction, Kampot can be an alternative.

Sihanoukville

A popular seaside resort of Sihanoukville is 6 and a half hours away from Phnom Penh by bus.

Siem Reap–Sihanoukville and Kampot

While you always can self-connect via Phnom Penh changing one Grand Ibis bus to another, there is also a direct service between Siem Reap and Sihanoukville. Taking a direct bus is faster than travelling via Phnom Penh – it takes just 10 hours.

Siem Reap–Sihanoukville is the only route besides Phnom Penh–Siem Reap that is also served by Giant Ibis overnight bus.

After calling to Sihanoukville, the bus proceeds to Kampot.

International service

Currently, Giant Ibis Transport operates two international routes: to Thailand and Vietnam. The operator helps to make the process of border crossings on these services are as hassle-free as possible.

• Siem Reap–Bangkok in Thailand
  It is a fast, convenient and stress-free way to travel between the Thai capital and the gateway to the temples of Angkor and vice versa though you have to take care of your visa travelling either way.

There are no night buses on this route and the journey takes between 8 and 9 hours.

• Phnom Penh–Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam

Similarly to the previous route, no overnight buses are available here. The whole journey takes under 7 hours and you should hold a valid visa to be admitted to board a bus in either direction.

4. Several routes feature both day and overnight buses, the latter being a handy time- and money-saver.

5. Most Giant Ibis buses have Wi-Fi as well as individual power sockets, which is a rarity.

6. As the company is still fairly recently established the vehicles are all much newer than any that you will see on the same routes with different operators.

1. There are no toilets on board Giant Ibis services. However, there are regular breaks allowing passengers to use the bathroom or to just stretch their legs for a short time.

2. When travelling alone and taking a sleeper bus, be sure to understand which berth you book – a single one or one of the two adjacent berths. It is not always a good idea to spend your night journey side by side with a stranger.
