Verschillende klassen en typen bussen komen tegemoet aan de verschillende behoeften van reizigers. De goedkoopste reizen worden doorgaans aangeboden door standaardklasse bussen. Ze kunnen lokaal, express of gewoon worden genoemd. Deze zijn een goede keuze voor kortere reizen. Slaapbussen of VIP-bussen zijn goed voor langere reizen en overnachtingen. Ze bieden slaapplaatsen of brede zachte stoelen met verstelbare rugleuning, soms met ingebouwde massagemogelijkheden, dekens, frisdranken en snacks, of meer uitgebreide maaltijden aan boord of tijdens toilet- of tankstops. Als je met een nachtbus reist, kan je besparen op een hotelkamer, maar om de meest comfortabele rit te garanderen moet je de klasse van je bus verstandig kiezen. De prijzen zijn altijd afhankelijk van de afstand die je rijdt en het type bus. Voor sommige, zelfs kortere reizen, is het de moeite waard wat extra geld te investeren en een zitplaats in een VIP-bus te kopen, omdat je daarmee twee keer zoveel tijd kan besparen als met een gewone bus.

Voordelen van reizen per bus
- De bus is de beste keuze om bestemmingen te bereiken die niet per trein of vliegtuig bereikbaar zijn. Het netwerk van bussen bestrijkt vaak bijna het hele land, en hun routes zijn vaak goed uitgewerkt.
- In tegenstelling tot vliegreizen en soms treinreizen, hoef je met de bus niet lang van tevoren op het busstation te zijn. Inchecken, zelfs op internationale routes, neemt niet veel tijd in beslag. De toegestane bagage is meestal zeer reizigersvriendelijk, en de vergoeding voor extra bagage, als er beperkingen zijn vastgesteld, is meestal niet erg duur.
- Bustickets kunnen voordeliger zijn dan vliegtuig- of sneltreintickets. Er is altijd een keuze aan ticketklassen voor alle portemonnees. Goedkopere standaardopties zijn misschien wat traag en bieden geen topcomfort, maar zijn hoe dan ook aanvaardbaar en brengen je naar je bestemming. Op langere trajecten zijn toiletten of toiletstops en snacks, water en soms toiletartikelen en dekens bijna altijd bij de prijs inbegrepen.
- Als je bereid bent meer uit te geven, bieden sommige VIP-bussen zitplaatsen die vergelijkbaar zijn met business class in een vliegtuig, met brede, zachte verstelbare stoelen, dekens, minder passagiers en vele andere extraatjes om van je reis een aangename reis te maken.
Nadelen van reizen per bus
- Nieuwere intercity busterminals liggen vaak buiten de stad in de buurt van grotere snelwegen, zodat de bussen de files in de stad kunnen vermijden. Helaas kan dit ook extra uitdagingen opleveren voor reizigers. Het bereiken van zo'n terminal kan een probleem zijn, omdat er op sommige bestemmingen beperkingen gelden voor voertuigen die de terminal mogen binnenrijden, en je speciale vervoerders moet gebruiken om er te komen. Dit leidt tot hogere kosten omdat de prijzen kunnen worden opgedreven. Reken ook extra tijd als je tijdens de spits reist, vooral als je de verkeerssituatie op je vertrekpunt niet kent.
- Bussen zijn waarschijnlijk het vervoermiddel dat vaker vertraging heeft dan treinen of vliegtuigen. Zij zijn sterk afhankelijk van de situatie op de weg, die soms onvoorspelbaar kan zijn door ongevallen, wegwerkzaamheden, omleidingen of andere omstandigheden. Dit geldt vooral voor reizen tijdens het weekend, het hoogseizoen of nationale feestdagen. Houd hier rekening mee en houd voldoende tijd over voor verbindingen.
- Voor reizen op bepaalde routes of tijdens de populairste periodes kan het nodig zijn vooraf te reserveren. Houd er rekening mee dat het niet altijd mogelijk is om op het busstation te verschijnen en op de volgende bus te springen - tickets kunnen allemaal uitverkocht zijn, dus plan je reis zorgvuldig.

Anonymous Veel te lange reis met een te oude bus. Chauffeur reed goed Mooie route maar wel veel te lang. Bus kwam 45 minuten te laat. Dit kan gebeuren maar niemand kon informatie verschaffen over hoe lang het nog ging duren. Bus stopte bij heel veel haltes. Dit was van te voren niet bekend. Hierdoor liep de reis nog eens een half uur extra uit. De bus was oud veel stoelen konden niet meer gesteld worden. Alleen de ligstand was mogelijk.

Anonymous Incorrect posting not direct bus. The bus left on time. The bus was supposed to be a direct bus but stopped everywhere on the way to pick up passengers. The A/c on the bus was hardly working and it made the journey miserable in the heat. The bus was over an hour late.

Anonymous Disappointed. In makarska the driver wanted us to go to another smaller bus but of course our online tickets didn't work so we got back to the initial bus. I've told the driver that the tickets are for this bus and he switched to Croatian even tough before he spoke to us in perfect English. We told him that we stop at Brela but he didn't and he left us on the road after 1km off the bus station. Very angry driver, I'll never use this bus company again.

Anonymous More than 2hours late. No information provided by the drivers. NO AIR CONDITIONNING. Awful trip. Nous sommes arrivés avec 2h10 de retard (15h10 au lieu de 13h), aucune information ne nous a été partagé pendant le trajet par les conducteurs alors que nous avions des activités de prévues. De plus, la climatisation ne fonctionnant pas et par 33 degrés a l’ombre, le bus s’est très vite transformé en étuve. Passer presque 6h dans ces conditions n’est pas acceptable.

Anonymous The bus never showed up! Me and my partner had a flight from Split to Dublin and we were supposed to take this bus to catch our flight in Split. We arrived at 16:30h to the station (15 min before the time slot) and waited for an hour straight. The bus never showed up. We had to take a cab to catch our flight leaving at 21:55h from Split, doubling our costs and barely making it to our flight.

Drivers weren’t polite at all, very uncommunicative, they picked us up 35 mins late no apology and then we were 2 hours late to destination which is hard when you’ve arranged a shuttle. Dubrovnik to Split Time booked 2:15-6:30 Actual time 2:50-8:15.

Anonymous Drive to dubrovnik. Flexibility to be picked up at a small town. Traffic is horrendous in summer but the schedules only allow for regular traffic periods. Bus was 1.5 hours late and getting information about this is hard. Private transfer would cost more but avoid this stress.

Anonymous Terrible journey. The bus set off on time, but I couldn’t say anything else was enjoyable of this journey. We bought the direct route from spilt to Dubrovnik but the journey stopped many times alone the way. The 3 hours journey took 5 hours plus and the drive did not allow toilet breaks. I have cystic fibrosis they did not take into consideration of disabilities.

Too many people were let on the bus/given tickets, leaving 6 of us to stand/sit on the aisles, and another 2 to have to sit in the toddler chairs that pull out above the stairwell. A bus that was expected to drive directly from Split to Dubrovnik with 0 other stops, had stopped and dropped off/picked up passengers along the route at least 10 times. We drove out of the way from the expected route SEVERAL times. 45 minutes into the drive, we were able to get the seating we paid for once they let off 8 passengers at the first stop of the trip. Because of the constant stopping, our expected arrival of 1pm in Dubrovnik ended up being at 3:45pm. We missed our next bus to Montenegro that left at 3:30! It was horrible how long the drive was and the inconvenience of overbooking passengers in the beginning. If we had been given notice that we would shuttle around various towns instead of take the direct route like the website said, we would have just taken the ferry.

Anonymous This is not direct, we travelled from Split to Dubrovnik and stopped at every town on the way. Not a direct service, went through every small town on the way, acted more like a local route with people getting on and off each town and village. Also, bus arrived 2 hours after the scheduled arrival. Would never have taken the bus if I knew it was going to take 6 hours and not 4!

Anonymous The price was ok and at last we arrived to our destination. The bus was not on time, about 30 mins late. The backrests of several chairs were loose which was quite uncomfortable. It is not possible to pay by card on the bus, only cash, which is a bit inconvenient. The online booking is good, however for some reason it is not possible to buy the ticket until the departure time, the booking closes for some reason some time before (seem to be different time for different departures so it is hard to know when the booking closes as there is no information about it). So this can be improved.

Anonymous I do not recommend using this company! Use Flix instead! - Air conditioning did not work properly - The bus was almost two hours late reaching the destination - It made multiple stops (more than a Flix journey) and picked up local people - People had to stand in the aisle (I guess because of the extra people it kept picking up) - The aisle was quite narrow so people were on top of each other when standing up - if you have luggage to put underneath the bus, it’s costs an extra few Euros.

Trip also lasted 1 hour longer than estimated time, so we arrived a total of 2 hours late in Split. We stopped around 20 times, as city bus stations. Not to recommend at all, it changed our whole day planning.

Anonymous Super late and driver almost left me and wasn't helpful. I am glad the bus actually came, even if it was 45 min late. I liked that it made one stop, but it was super rushed. They were 45 min late. Me and two other people I met questioned if the pick up spot was correct. Their number isnt on whatsapp so none of us could call them. Their instagram and facebook response was slow so that wasn’t helpful either. When the bus finally showed up the driver almost left without me. The bathroom stop was super rushed, barely time to get out of the bus before they push you back on. When we arrived at the end the driver didn’t help with luggage, you had to find your own bag in the pile he had created that was still inside the bus. It wasn’t like he at least unloaded the bus.

Anonymous Fine trip to Dubrovnik. Cheap, not overcrowded. The trip was longer than it said, and there wasn't really a lot of traffic. They said it would take 3 hours and 45 min. Google maps says it takes 4 hours, and that's without stops on the way. So it was estimated to be way faster than possible.

Anonymous If you are in Croatia, TAKE TAXI INSTEAD!!! Right from the start, in the info about departure were two addresses, so we were very nervous and didn't know which to take. Then we decided to pick one, and since other people were there too, we though it was the right one. The bus was then almost an hour late, and when it finally came, the driver almost left us there, we had to shout at him a little. We were travelling with suitcases,which he clearly saw, bus still didn't take them to the bag area and we had to go on the bus with them. In the end, still it was almost full and we didn't know what to do with the bags, we had to stand the whole way. Fortunately, we were travelling only to the next city, which was 12 minutes, but imagine we weren't. Overall, for the money ( we paid 13€ for 2) , it was horrible experience and should have taken taxi instead.

Anonymous Worst bus service. That I reached by destination eventually!!! Bought a 3 hour 45 mins direct ride between Split and Dubrovnik, ended up reaching in 6 hours and all because of the multiple stops taken by the bus driver along the way to pickup more passengers and hence the internal roads taken instead of highways. Never using this provider again! Also, poor hygiene and cleanliness of buses.
