Laos Railway by RG Adventure Ticketprijzen & Treinklassen
Om het meeste uit je treinreis te halen kies je de klasse van je ticket verstandig. Houd rekening met de lengte van je reis, het tijdstip van de dag en je eigen voorkeuren. Voor langere nachtelijke reizen zijn tickets in eerste of tweede klas in een slaapwagon wellicht de beste oplossing. Met beide opties kan je zo comfortabel mogelijk de nacht doorslapen in een trein en verlies je geen kostbare tijd tijdens de dag. Merk op dat tickets in eersteklas soms niet kunnen worden geboekt voor korte reizen van een paar uur op een langer traject. Ze zijn vaak gereserveerd voor reizigers die het hele traject van vertrek tot eindstation afleggen. Toch zijn tickets in tweedeklas met soms zachte stoelen een behoorlijk alternatief als je slechts 4 tot 5 uur op de trein zit. Controleer wat bij de prijs is inbegrepen. Linnengoed en handdoeken zijn al dan niet voorzien voor overnachtingen, evenals water, snacks of toiletartikelen. Het is altijd een goed idee om wat extra kleding mee te nemen aan boord, omdat de airconditioning of verwarming misschien niet aan je eisen voldoet.

Voordelen van reizen per trein
- Reizen per trein is een ideale oplossing om het verkeer voor te zijn. Hoewel vertragingen om verschillende redenen soms mogelijk zijn, zullen in het algemeen noch de spits, noch lange weekends, noch drukke vakantiedagen je reis met de trein verpesten.
- Online boeken van treinkaartjes bespaart je veel tijd. Voor veel bestemmingen kunnen tickets tot 90 dagen voor je reisdatum worden geboekt. Toch zijn er vaak ook last-minute aanbiedingen beschikbaar. Je hoeft ook niet naar het treinstation om te boeken, doe het waar je wilt.
- In veel gevallen zijn treintickets veel voordeliger dan vliegtickets. Op bepaalde routes is de reisduur van hogesnelheidstreinen gelijk aan of zelfs korter dan die van vliegtuigen, als je bedenkt hoeveel tijd je op de luchthaven doorbrengt met inchecken en het doorlopen van veiligheids- en/of douaneformaliteiten.
- Spoorwegstations bevinden zich vaak in het centrum van de stad. Het bespaart je veel tijd om je accommodatie te bereiken. Oudere stations hebben vaak de extra bonus dat ze super sfeervol zijn en in historische gebouwen liggen. Reizen naar/van dergelijke stations kan worden beschouwd als een waardevol punt van je hele reisplan.
- Behalve dat je overdag tijd overhoudt voor andere leukere dingen, is een nacht in de trein een goede manier om te besparen op je hotelkosten. Als je voor een slaaptrein kiest, mag je ook verwachten dat je goed slaapt. Beter dan in een slaapbus!
- Op sommige routes rijden luxe treinen, en het is zeker een ervaring die je minstens één keer in je leven moet proberen.
Nadelen van reizen per trein
- Hoe langer de afstand, hoe langer de treinrit, en als je een aanzienlijke afstand moet afleggen, zal het erg tijdrovend zijn. Soms is vliegen dus een beter alternatief, ook al is het duurder.
- Verbindingen met je verder vervoer moeten met extra zorg worden gepland. Hoewel de dienstregelingen normaal gesproken vastliggen, zijn vertragingen en annuleringen altijd mogelijk om uiteenlopende redenen. Een ander punt om rekening mee te houden is de locatie van het station waar je trein aankomt of vertrekt. In bepaalde steden en plaatsen is er meer dan één station, wat soms voor verwarring zorgt.
- Een van de meest voorkomende klachten over treinen op bepaalde trajecten is de netheid. Het betreft vooral de goedkoopste klasse rijtuigen en toiletten.
- Tijdens sommige treinreizen worden haltes niet altijd duidelijk aangekondigd of gemarkeerd. Elektronische schermen lossen dit probleem gemakkelijk op, maar zijn niet overal aanwezig. Zorg er dus voor dat je je halte volgt met GPS of vraag het gewoon aan de conducteur.

Eab ADe communicatie met 12go was verschrikkelijk - we ontvingen minder dan 2 uur voor vertrek een ticketbevestiging, wat vreselijk is.
We ontvingen nauwelijks reacties van 12Go en als we al reacties ontvingen, was het een robotachtige reactie. Op een gegeven moment kregen we te horen dat we geen tickets meer hadden en 20 minuten later ontvingen we een automatische bevestiging met tickets. Hoe bizar!
Verder moet het duidelijker zijn dat de boekingsbevestiging 2 dagen nodig heeft om te verwerken, het is niet acceptabel om dat duidelijk te maken nadat iemand zijn zuurverdiende geld heeft overhandigd.

Martin Er is niets mis met de 12go service, je betaalt er natuurlijk wel voor, maar het is het zeker waard. Het negatieve is dat je bij de treinmaatschappij geen toiletspullen van meer dan 100 ml of alcohol mag meenemen en ze nemen dingen van je af zoals ze willen, dingen verdwijnen onder bureaus in plaats van in de vuilnisbakken.

AeroSoul PIk moest mijn vervoer naar het treinstation krijgen, dat 30 meter van Luang Prabang ligt. Ik weet niet zeker of je 12go.asia van tevoren moet mailen met informatie over het ophalen. Nou, de plek waar ik verbleef had een pendeldienst naar het treinstation, voor een goedkope prijs, dus die heb ik genomen.

Tamas OOverall, I had a good trip. However, I would like to mention an issue regarding the enforcement of your luggage policy.
I had to remove my bug spray from my suitcase because it was confiscated, as I was told that aerosols are not allowed at the stations between Vientiane and Luang Prabang (my route included a stop in Vang Vieng). However, my bug spray was not confiscated at Vientiane station when I began my journey.
If aerosols are prohibited at all stations, why was I allowed to carry it through the departure station but required to dispose of it later? This inconsistency was confusing.
In addition, my friend was carrying flammable items such as spray cans and perfume, and he was allowed through without any issue.
I would appreciate it if the rules could be applied consistently to all passengers rather than being enforced selectively. Thank you.

Carolin DI did not get the sleeper car that I booked (and even though I booked well in advance) and certainly would not have taken the train knowing I'd have to sit in a seat. On top of that, the provider charged almost twice as much as I would have paid booking direct with Thai railways. If not even the service of booking the ticket you wanted is included, I could have done it myself with much less stress and hassle.

Your platform showed that my booking had been confirmed, but also stated that I still needed to wait for further confirmation from your platform, and that the booking would only be considered confirmed once the e-ticket was issued.
My hotel in Luang Prabang for the 18th had already been confirmed and could not be rescheduled.
However, until the afternoon of the 17th, I was unable to contact your company at all, including searching online for a contact phone number. I sent emails to you, but your replies were vague and unhelpful. As a last resort, I went directly to Vang Vieng train station to check the email confirmation you sent me. With no other option, I had to book a minibus early the next morning to reach my destination. I lost the money I paid for the train ticket and still had to endure a 7-hour bus ride.
I sincerely urge your company: if you do not have the capability to confirm train tickets immediately after customers have paid, please do not sell them. As for how reasonable it is to send a “re-confirmation” at a later time, please assess this yourselves.

Ruch EI booked a first-class ticket, but due to overbooking (which seems to happen far too often, why is there always overbooking?), I was placed in second class. In the end, I paid the same price as a second-class ticket, even though the correct fare should have been almost half of what I originally paid.
The staff were very responsive and kind, and I truly thank them for that. However, despite being informed of the issue three days before departure, I did not receive a proper refund or any commercial gesture. This was especially disappointing since I had booked my train ticket two weeks in advance specifically to avoid this kind of situation.

My issue is that the crowd was disorderly. The mass was pushing their way through even though there was no need for it.
The passengers were cutting through the line when there was no need for it.
There was plenty of time for everyone to get to the train platform without being in a mad rush.

John MThe stations were so far out of town it added a lot of cost and time to the journey. The stations were functional but bland. I booked a return ticket but ended up flying back as it was hardly any more expensive and quick and both airports were close to the centre of their towns so overall air was a better choice.

Michael CComfortable train journey into thailand. Train station was quiet and orderly. We did have to pay 10k kip for leaving the country but after some research border officers are allowed to charge for overtime fee. It isnt much money but I dont like supporting corruption.
The train was tidy and comfortable with clean bed sheets and bedding provided. Toilets were good too but bring your own toilet paper as it runs out fast.
Otherwise a great journey I actually enjoyed!

Simone WGreat experience travelling on the high speed railway. Tickets came through a few days before the journey as described. Having a QR code on my mobile made it really easy. The journey was very quick and scenic. Would recommend as an efficient way to travel in Loas, just be aware of the strict stipulations related to your luggage.
