We were headed to Ao Nang but i mistakenly booked a ticket to railay, which is not road accessible. Thankfully the staff at the desk were immensely helpful and changed our ticket into an ao nang one, thereby dispelling any fears of being stranded with our massive suitcases.
But on the way back we were not satisfied because it stopped for half an hour at the next station and we were not feeling well from the heat. We are two people, aged 67 and 71, and this heat was not suitable for us, but they were waiting for an extra passenger and took 11 passengers on board. It was supposed to leave at 3 o'clock, but it left 7 minutes early and was in Phuket at 4:10, but it was in Phuket at 4:30. That means we were in that bad heat for half an hour and when we arrived we were not feeling well and we were overheated.
Phuket (Rassada) to Krabi (Railay Beach - East) ferry:
Air conditioned ferry (comfortable and quiet) and staff clearly pointed me in the right direction.
Beware there is a connection from the larger ferry to a small long tail boat for the final stretch of the journey. Staff help with luggage.
Lots of places to grabs snacks, food/drinks at the ferry terminal. Small shop and toilet onboard.
Note - voucher is not your ticket. You have to check in with the ferry operator and collect tickets at the terminal. Well signposted.
