Hilly route at end with hairpin bends. One or two people on board feeling car sick. The train is a very good option followed by a short taxi ride.

I was extremely dissatisfied with the trip. The bus didn't go directly to Catania Airport. Instead, it made a long detour through downtown Catania, picking up passengers there before returning to the highway. I checked Google Maps and found that for the bus to arrive at the airport at the scheduled time, it had to factor in the time it took to get on and off at stations along the route (such as Taormina Train Station, meaning it didn't include downtown Catania). Furthermore, traffic in downtown Catania was incredibly chaotic and congested, causing the bus to arrive over 40 minutes later than expected. This prevented me from checking in at the scheduled time, and I missed my flight. My experience wasn't unique to this bus. I'm not sure if this route to downtown Catania was designed that way or if the driver was simply picking up passengers to enrich himself. I'm also not sure if Catania's traffic has always been this way.

Taormina - Carsmua airport. We got on the bus we thought was ours but actually it was an earlier bus! Despite that we were allowed to take ( in part because our tickets were not checked! Could be an issue! We couldn’t check any details on the bus journey and stops it would make along the way from the web site. Thought it was direct from Taormina to Catania Airport.

Taormina - Catania (Airport). The bus left on time and arrived at the destination on time. It was clean inside. No toilets on bus and none in bus station. Uncomfortable seats. People using phones on loudspeaker.

9:15 bus was cancelled resulting in our missing subsequent buses to Palermo and Trapani. 10:15 bus was fine. 9:15 bus was cancelled resulting in missing subsequent buses and additional ticket costs.

Trip to Airport. Comfortable. Poor organisation. No signs as to where the bus would arrive. Bus was late. No queuing. Lots of confusion and panic as to whether everyone would be able to get on the bus.
