Un aspetto positivo del viaggiare in autobus è la possibilità di adattare il viaggio alle proprie esigenze in quanto a privacy e comfort. Le varie classi di autobus rispondono alle diverse esigenze dei viaggiatori. Gli autobus di classe standard sono spesso i più economici. Vengono chiamati autobus locali, express od ordinari. Costituiscono una buona scelta per i viaggi brevi. Gli autobus VIP o sleeping bus sono ideali per viaggi lunghi e notturni. Di solito offrono cuccette o sedili ampi, morbidi e reclinabili, e a volte vengono offerti massaggi compresi, coperte, rinfreschi e spuntini, o pasti più abbondanti, sia a bordo dell'autobus che durante le soste per la toilette e il rifornimento. Viaggiare in uno sleeping bus ti permette di risparmiare il prezzo di una camera d'albergo. Tuttavia, per rendere il percorso il più confortevole possibile, è necessario scegliere con cura la classe dell'autobus. Per alcuni viaggi, anche se più brevi, vale la pena di investire un po' di più e acquistare un biglietto d'autobus VIP, che a volte impiega la metà del tempo che ci metterebbe un autobus normale per raggiungere la stessa destinazione."

I Vantaggi del Viaggio in Autobus
- L'autobus è la soluzione più indicata per raggiungere le località non servite dal treno o dall'aereo. Di solito, la rete di autobus copre quasi tutto il paese e spesso i tragitti sono già ben consolidati da molto tempo.
- A differenza dell'aereo o del treno, quando si viaggia in autobus non occorre arrivare in stazione con largo anticipo. Il check-in, anche per le tratte internazionali, non richiede tanto tempo. I limiti stabiliti per i bagagli sono di solito abbastanza convenienti per il passeggero e la tariffa per il bagaglio extra, se ci sono dei limiti, non è spesso molto alta.
- I biglietti d'autobus sono quasi sempre più economici di quelli dell'aereo o del treno veloce. I tipi di autobus si adattano a tutti i budget. Gli autobus standard, più economici, sono a volte un po' lenti e non forniscono il massimo comfort, ma sono comunque accettabili e ti porteranno a destinazione. Per i viaggi più lunghi, gli autobus sono solitamente dotati di servizi igienici o effettuano fermate per la toilette, e il prezzo include quasi sempre snack, acqua e talvolta articoli da toilette e coperte.
- Se invece si è pronti a pagare di più, ci sono autobus VIP con sedili simili a quelli della business class di un aereo: ampi, morbidi e reclinabili. Spesso sono incluse anche le coperte, ci sono meno passeggeri e tanti altri vantaggi che faranno del tuo viaggio un'esperienza piacevole.
Svantaggi del Viaggio in Autobus
- I nuovi terminal interurbani degli autobus sono spesso situati fuori città, vicino alle autostrade, in modo da evitare il traffico urbano. Questo può comportare qualche difficoltà per i viaggiatori. Raggiungere un terminal di questo tipo può risultare problematico, poiché in alcuni terminal ci sono restrizioni in quanto ai veicoli che sono autorizzati a entrare e quindi per arrivarci occorre utilizzare trasporti speciali. Ciò potrebbe comportare costi più elevati soprattutto se i prezzi dei trasporti sono stati ribaltati. Se si viaggia nelle ore di punta, si deve prevedere più tempo, soprattutto se non si conosce la situazione del traffico locale.
- Gli autobus sono forse il mezzo di trasporto meno puntuale rispetto ai treni e agli aerei. Gli autobus dipendono fortemente dalla situazione stradale, che a volte è imprevedibile (incidenti, lavori stradali, deviazioni, ecc.). Questo vale soprattutto per i viaggi del fine settimana, l'alta stagione e le festività nazionali. Tienilo presente e non programmare connessioni troppo ravvicinate.
- Per viaggiare in alcune tratte o durante i periodi di maggiore affluenza è consigliabile prenotare in anticipo. Tieni conto che non è sempre possibile arrivare alla stazione e prendere il prossimo autobus: rischi di trovare i biglietti esauriti, quindi programma il tuo viaggio con largo anticipo.

Anonymous Although it had snowed and I was a little bit scared, the bus driver did an excellent job. The way he drived. He made a stop of 30 minutes in Cetinje, which was not planned. We came 30 minutes later than we were supposed to and I needed to go to the airport. I still had enough time, but I had to call my taxi driver to reschedule, because I left a gap of 15 minutes, not 30.

Driver was not very friendly and took no real effort to find a way in communication between him (no English) and me (no Montenegrin). What really bothered me as I sat just behind the back of the driver is the fact that he texted and sorted his things (money and bills) while driving. This should be a total no-go.

No nos gustó que en Montenegro (Podgorica) había que pagar para ir al baño y para entrar en la estación aún teniendo pagados los billetes además de pagar por las maletas a parte del billete que habíamos comprado online, además el autobús era bastante viejo y no tenía enchufes para un viaje de 6,30h, las paradas eran muy cortas para tanto tiempo de viaje y el camino es bastante turbulento y con el autobús en esas condiciones pues peor.

Anonymous Bus station attendants are a bit rude, helpful but very abrupt both at Kotor and Budva. Extra costs at station, this is bit pre advised. It’s not a lot of money but if you were a back packer this would mount up and the service you get at stations are not the best. Shouting at the passengers, abrupt and rude.

At café Putnik they charged 3€ for a Capuccino and tried to intoxicate me. I am glad that I only took 2 sips. I recommend Getbybus to try to change the station.

Anonymous There was no bus to Sarajevo at Podgorica bus-station at September 8th, 13:35 h. I was at 13:20h at the platform. Podgorica bus-station has about 12 gates. I checked them all. The official people at the platform said that the bus shall leave from gate 6. There were four or five buses to other destinations, but none on 6 and none to Sarajevo. After 13:35h the platform-officials said that the bus seems to be late. At the desk inside the building the lady said, that the bus has already gone. I waited for another two hours and then bought another ticket for the next bus leaving at 23:40h.

Anonymous Sarajevo East is barely Sarajevo. Some of the scenery on this route is world class. Being dropped off a 15 minute taxi ride from Sarajevo to a bus stop with no ATM, no public transport links NLD into the city and scalping taxi drivers asking for €20. I found a local who flagged down a cab and negotiated 15 Bosnian marks (local price) for me.

Anonymous Terrible experience. The driver was driving safely through the mountains on the winding roads. There was a terrible experience with boarding the bus. We had our tickets purchased on the website. Thus, we printed our tickets out. While boarding we were advised that we have to exchange our print-outs for "real" tickets in the ticketing booth at the bus station. They charged additional 2 Euros for each ticket. Besides that, we had to pay extra 2 Euros for each suitcase we put in the baggage compartment. The driver did not give us any receipts for those charges. There was no information as to when the bus will arrive, which bus is the right one for going to Podgorica, etc. The dispatcher at the Kotor bus station was not polite, yelling at the passengers. He was not answering to the questions about the bus schedule. When the bus arrived to the Kotor's bus station, we noticed that the driver was looking tired, despite the fact that he had to drive the bus through the difficult roads back to Podgorica. On top of that he smoked a cigarette inside of the passengers' cabin.
