Uzbekistan Railways Top Reiseziele
It got me where I wanted to be.
I accidentally booked third class rather than second. I also ended up in the top of three bunks although thankfully my journey was less than 4 hours I chose not to use the bunk and sat in the hallway.
The other beds were occupied by a family and it felt a little intrusive to sit with them on the lower bunks although they were very nice. The problem with sitting in the hall was that every few minutes traders were up and down the passage with huge bags selling their wares and trying to push through but also all the fold down seats were broken and we're no longer horizontal. I spent most of the journey standing.
If you want to be comfortable make sure you select the right class. It was my mistake.
I love the old fashioned steel trains and the somsa they were serving was absolutely delicious! Excellent trip through Kyzylkum dessert, I'd wish it lasted longer!
The train was easy to use and the sleeper car was comfortable.
The train station was a quick Yandex go ride away.
The VIP lounge at the southern train station was a perfect place to spend time before the train arrival and the station has plenty of food options.
The train was spot on time.
The train staff were excellent throughout the journey.
The on board food was great
Overall I would thoroughly recommend this service yo anyone who asks
The train controllers ask you for 20.000 to give you tea/coffee, and it is kind of mandatory. I did not have any cash so they were quite angry. But the next morning they were over it and it was ok
It was a glorious day with wonderful people and stunning views! Numon, our guide, truly had a passion for his country, which made him the perfect guide! Thankful for the memories made!
No way of being able to book bottom bunk beds.
We were both allocated top bunks which at the age of 70+ was not easy to access climbing up is dangerous. Thankfully a kind younger lady let us sit on her lower bunk for the 7hour journey. As if things could get worse we were placed next to the toilet which stank even when our cabin door was closed we couldn't escape the smell. Also people are allowed to smoke. A terrible journey. Also very limited choice of food at the rail station and on board. Terrible terrible journey
I realised I had to share my cabin. I didn't expect to share with a Russian man. Absolutely no privacy.
After much negotiation and exchange of more money i was able to buy the train attendants cabin. I would never do this again.
It's okay, but if you can book first or second class. The toilets are not quite inviting....have a big bottle of water and toilet paper with you, sanitizer eventually aswell.
If you are a taller than 1,70 m it will be uncomfortable.

Compartment was nearly empty. Got lucky as the train itself was a new one with a very comfortable carriage. General advice for an older train would be to book a seat in the middle of the carriage away from the toilets at either end.

Great experience if you want to enjoy the land journey across Kazakhstan. The sleeper train is good for the night train while you have your own bed for your privacy. However, the cabin was a bit warm and uncomfortable during the day especially when the temperature outside gets warmer. The F&B was great and they accepted credit card too. Toilet is clean and they provide you with hot and cold water at the water dispenser.

Second class 4 people in cabin had the two top bunks a little tight but overall good experience.
I didn't take the 3rd class night train. I returned the ticket on the day,( you guys will get a refund. I will miss put). I took thr new train from Lhiva to Bukhara. New, cool and heads of space. Loved it.
Driver was nice, drove safely, paid attention to our needs ( he got us bottles of water and made stops when needed)
Everything was perfect except that he was 30 minutes late.

When we boarded, two men had settled into our compartment, and had obviously spent the night before there. The attendant moved them out to their assigned compartment, and cleaned up for us and gave us new sheets (which weren't quite long enough to fit the bunk). The bunks were very hard, though, and the reading lights didn't work. We got woken up repeatedly - passport check, luggage inspection, etc., but also sometimes just by people opening the compartment door and even once in the middle of the night for the attendant to wash the floor! The toilet was disgusting too.
The train was quite comfortable and updated. Amenities worked well (toilet, sheets, plugs, lights) and there was plenty of storage space under the bottom bunk. The cooling system generally worked, but at some point, we couldn't figure out why it wouldn't keep cooling the room and was instead gradually getting warmer.
The train stopped two times. During the stopps their was no climatisation on the train and no information. And the first hours we travelled at daytime, but their wasn‘t seats. Every block in the train was beds. And we choose the train for seeing some part of the landscape, but we have the seats / beds 22 and 24 and these are on the top. So we see nothing. But the restaurant and the different meals was excellent
The fast train from Bukhara to Khiva offers a smooth and efficient means of transport. Spotlessly clean, comfortable, with plenty of snack options for the journey.
