Train left and arrived (on the minute) punctuality. 3 different stewards came 2 times with different drinks, snacks and food. Seats were very comfortable and had very much legroom.

Instead of being a VIP van from Hanoi to Ninh Binh it was a grab from the pickup point to another bus terminal followed by two connecting VIP vans. There was also a third van we were directed to get in before it was realised it wasn’t the right van and we moved to a different one. The whole time we had no idea what was going on and we’re just hoping for the best. Our Vietnamese language skills are very poor, and the whole thing would probably have been better if we spoke the language better, but if it was advertised correctly as 3 connecting vehicles we wouldn’t have booked it. We were about 20 minutes late in the end, which actually is less than I was expecting based on how much stuffing around there was.

It got me where I wanted to go. It was nice that they organized a taxi service to go directly to my homestay as it was 20 minutes from the drop off point. The only reason I removed a star was because the driver was rude and didn't speak English. Someone texted via WhatsApp and I communicated through them with the driver. The driver did drive a little fast and swerved in and out of traffic but I got there fast even though he spent like 40 minutes picking up other people at different locations after I boarded at 11:35am. We started leaving around 12:15pm and I arrived at my homestay by 2pm.

Everything was good, except one super important thing - safety. The driver drove like crazy, constantly using his horn, overtaking cars on the edge of the road, I was really scared.

It looks like the driver was in a hurry to arrive in Ninh Binh to have his lunch, his driving was too speed. We had to wait in Ninh Binh for the other bus to go to Tamcoc without having real informations.

They brought us to a different place than it was written on the internet. We ended up in Tam Coc and de driver said he understand nothing. suddenly he understood and brought us to Ninbh Binh, but we catchend up many people before. So it took us around one hour more.

Driver went way to fast, speeding past all the other cars on the highway. Ride was also extremely bumpy due to this and the poor suspension in the car. Do not recommend. If you are looking for a smooth ride I would recommend taking a larger bus so you are more insulated from shocks.
