Transportation from Chiang Mai to Bangkok

Chiang Mai to Bangkok Destination Reviews

The Bus was comfortable and the crew very nice. Only thing which could be way better is the communication. We had a free meal and nobody told us were and when we can have it. The we nearly missed our station because of course at 5:30 in the morning everybody was asleep and the crew did not say anything. In general everything only in Thai so you don’t know where the bus is, how long the break is.. Beside that it was a was a pleasant trip.

I'd always wanted to take trains all the way from Chiang Mai to my hometown Kuala Lumpur. This leg is the first leg, an overnight 2nd class sleeper to Bangkok. Everyone was considerate of others. I was able to sleep to the rocking of the train (I always do, I LOVE train travel!) and got to Bangkok all alright. :)

Upper sleeper cabins are horrible. Light is on the whole night
Train #52 2nd Class Sleeper AC, Thai Railway (การรถไฟแห่งประเทศไทย), Sep 27, 2022
The tickets were easy to get at the bossotel and the train was in chiang mai at time but it arrived an hour late. The beds were not that comfortable and the cover of the pillow and the mattress had many stains. Not that hygienic but it didn’t smell bad. The lower lies were bigger than the upper. The only service was the water and to get the bed done but they forgot us first so we had to wait two hours longer than everyone else. The light in the train is never out or even lighter so bring a sleeping mask especially when you sleep in the upper because the light is placed directly next to the curtain so that it’s bright and shiny in your cell. We didn’t get the beds we recommended so we couldn’t seat together. Also they wake you up which shortens the little sleep you get again. I wouldn’t recommend it, the bus ride was way more comfortable with the vip bus. I really don’t understand the sense of a sleeping train when they don’t dim the lights for a better sleep.

The bus departed with 30 min of delay and SEO e with a total of 1h and 20 min of delay. No one inform us about anything, neither that during the 30 min stop on the way we could have a free meal (I read after in the reviews). But at least the bus was comfortable and spacious
