Thailand – Door Closing – No Arrivals until April 15

The rise of Covid-19 cases during the last few days led to Thailand shutting doors to new arrivals effective from Thursday, April 2 till Wednesday, April 15.

Thailand's Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha has ordered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to issue a directive prohibiting all new arrivals to the country adding that “the spread of Covid-19 must be stopped.”

While the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is expected to give more details on the directive, it is already confirmed that people who have permission and who need to enter Thailand are exempted.

Earlier today, Prime Minister also set a nationwide curfew starting this Friday, April 3, between 10 pm and 4 am. "No one would be allowed outside their residences during this hour," the statement says. Vehicles carrying medical supplies and people heading to their quarantine as well as patiants heading to hospitals and medical personnel will be exempted.

The total number of Covid-19 cases in Thailand hit 1,875 with 104 new infections confirmed over a 24-hour period and three patients dying.
