The bus was slightly less broken than the road. It’s not a highway, it’s a very rough track with landslides having damaged it all along its route. The road is being upgraded but it’ll be 2-5 years before it’s finished at a guess. We took 12 hours, not the advertised 7 hours. We experienced a blow out (fixed very quickly) and electrical failure. Pitch black, no lights for 45 minutes. The three stars are for the crew, especially the driver, who was excellent. I’d turn up at the bus station to get a better rate too. Watch out for dodgy insurance being auto added by 12GO. You have to select no to remove it as opposed to yes to include it. I tried to request a refund but the website didn’t work. Use 12GO as a guide then go local in my opinion.
The bus without AC , unconfortable . As it rained during the trip my two bags arrived full of mud . Driver and asssistant with very nice and helpfull actitude.
because of some weather/flood problems the roads were blocked, etc. The trip took instead of the expected 6 hours, 15. I understand that is not a responsibility of the company. But the driver and the helper didnt have any intention of mention to half of the bus (the non nepalese speaker half) what was happening . Suddenly we were stopped for 4 hours and no information about it. I understand that they may not speak english but with the technology of nowadays, you can make yourself understandable. Other than that, all good.
I recently traveled with New Road Travels, and I honestly had a very good experience. I’ve traveled with other tourist bus services before, so I had something to compare it with, but my experience with New Road Travels was much better.
What I liked most was how well they treated me throughout the journey. The staff were friendly, respectful, and helpful, and everything was properly arranged. I felt comfortable and well taken care of from the beginning to the end of the trip.
It’s not just about having a good bus the way passengers are treated and how smoothly everything is managed makes a big difference, and New Road Travels did that really well.
I’m very happy with my experience and would definitely choose them again for my next journey. If you’re planning to travel by tourist bus and want a comfortable, well-managed, and hassle-free experience, I’d definitely recommend New Road Travels.

I had a really good experience with New Road Travels. I travelled from Kathmandu to Pokhara and honestly, the journey was much more comfortable than I expected. I was worried that the road conditions might make the ride bumpy and uncomfortable, but the bus was quite smooth and I barely felt the bumps. Overall, the journey was comfortable and the service was good. I would definitely recommend New Road Travels if you’re travelling from Kathmandu to Pokhara.
