The scenery was beautiful as you will have read about. Apart from the Ella rock views when leaving the station you see more of the mountains and tea estates sitting on the right if travelling from Ella to Kandy. This was however a very long slow trip of over six hours to go not much further than 150km. Our seats were at the front of the first class carriage and with one large suitcase jammed between me and the carriage end because it would not fit on the parcel shelf. Moreover each time the door opened at a station the train fumes would come into the carriage. You have to be a romantic to want to do this trip although many younger people seemed to enjoy hanging out of the doors taking selfies. I was only on this train because the one with the observation carriage was not running.
12Go however managed to get me the tickets enabling me to walk through the gate quickly and easily. I also received the money back for the ticket delivery to my hotel because they sent this ticket and another one together.
I would use 12Go again simply for peace of mind and being prepared.

Train was over 1 hour late which meant the last hour was in darkness - suggest you warn travellers about this in future. Also, I cannot understand how you can charge 20USD for a ticket with a face value of 7 USD?

We bought tickets for the 1st class Kandy-Nuwara Eliya train. These tickets must be purchased in advance, and then the e-ticket must be changed to regular tickets at the station, or order delivery to the hotel. 12 Asia worked perfectly, bought and brought tickets to the hotel. When we arrived in Kandy, an envelope with tickets was waiting for us. Also, before the trip, we had some questions, they helped us to understand everything. Thank you for this service.

Very beautiful train ride! But after speaking to some locals we decided to get in at halfway instead of Kandy to Elle. So we reduced the trip from 6 to 3 hrs which was perfect for us.
Booking process was very easy. We got the tickets posted to our hotel at a fee but they texted to make sure we got the tickets which was good. You pay a bit more than locals but very happy to do that for the convenience of it!

We have used 12go.asia on a number of occasions during this current trip through Asia and, until now, have been entirely satisfied with the service and booking process. However, it didn’t go so well for this trip.
We made this booking on 1st April for a train journey which wasn’t taking place until 1st December. Whilst the receipt stated that they couldn’t guarantee getting exactly the trip and class that we requested, we figured that, given the amount of notice, 12go.asia would be on it on the day the tickets were released to ensure we got the ones we requested. We received communications on 7th November telling us that we hadn’t got the times we requested for either our outward or return journeys. We wanted an early outward journey and a late return and got the exact opposite, effectively losing two days of our stay in Galle.
We were even more disappointed when we learnt from other travellers that they had purchased tickets for the trains we wanted from the railway station and first class were still available!
There was also a lot of confusion as I was sent itineraries with different times and ending up getting very frustrated as I tried to work our exactly what trains we were actually on.
The journey itself went very smoothly, the train was late departing Colombo and arriving into Galle but, as we were already 7 hours later than we wanted to be, this became irrelevant. The First Class carriage is very comfortable and the journey along the coast is very pretty.

Train ride was beautiful and we got tickets right at the back of the carriage very back of the train very cool to see everything, massive glass windows. Worth paying for first class for the air con! Thought I’d paid for delivery to hotel but was told I hadn’t... Luckily noticed this prior to arrival as 12go had emailed and I checked with the hotel. After additional payment the Tickets were delivered prior to our arrival.
All in all good service would use again

This review is based on the purchase of tickets and support provided by 12GoAsia. Unfortunately there was a country wide rail strike so we could not actually take the train. The support and communication provided by 12GoAsia was excellent. I would certainly use them again.

Great service. Tickets were delivered to our hotel as promised. There is an enormous mark up on the tickets but you pay for the convenience of getting the tickets you want, delivered to the location of your choosing as opposed to collection.

We went on train 1015 from Kandy to Nanu Oya in first class section and we enjoyed the trip immensely
Train left Kandy a little late but the journey was very good and our seats organised by 12go Asia were excellent and on the right side
Air conditioning was excellent and we were glad we went first class the Windows don't open but that does not matter really and ensures the carriage is cool

Very expensive tickets compared to the price paid if bought locally in Sri Lanka. Also paying $10 USD to have them mailed to a hotel is a rip off. Wouldn't use them again.

We reserved tickets 1 month before depature. Because of our landing time we couldnt pick up the tickets at the Office in Colombo. After getting in touch trough email the tickets were delivered to our hotel. Superb service. We had some nice seats in the reserved cabin. The non reserved cabins were so full people were hanging outside the train. Lucky us! Thx 12go asia!

We got the train tickets delivered to the hotel everything went easily. I can't believe the markup and a 35 day lead time, but it was sold out and I had no recourse but to buy his way. Better than not being able to buy at all. I was charged 10 $USD for mailing to a hotel the form on it said 250rs so about $1.50 so in addition to the ticket markup there was a 800% mark up on postage.

Delivery was tricky with the awful events going on in Sri Lanka, but customer service were incredibly responsive and re-arranged delivery to our next hotel with plenty of time to spare.
The train journey from Ella to Kandy was as beautiful as you've heard - maybe more!

Great trip - so scenic and easy to manage. Trains were in a decent state too, albeit a bit wobbly! Tickets delivered to hotel which was very useful and meant no dramas getting to the agent / at the station.

Great train ride! Awesome views on both sides. Whilst the 2nd and 3rd class carriages weren't too packed on our train we saw a train going the other way with barely any standing room so worth the expense of 1st class. Great service from 12GO with train tickets secured and delivered by our airport pickup.
