Xe buýt là một cách di chuyển thuận tiện cho dù bạn cần đến một thị trấn lân cận cách đó vài giờ hay đi xa hơn trên khắp đất nước. Bất kể ngân sách bao nhiêu, bạn vẫn có thể đi xe buýt. Các hạng và loại xe buýt khác nhau phục vụ cho các nhu cầu đa dạng của du khách. Các chuyến đi rẻ nhất thường được cung cấp bởi xe buýt hạng tiêu chuẩn. Ưu điểm của việc đi lại bằng xe buýt
- Xe buýt là lựa chọn tốt nhất để đến các điểm đến không được kết nối bằng đường sắt hoặc máy bay. Mạng lưới xe buýt thường bao phủ hầu hết cả nước và các tuyến đường được thiết lập lâu đời.
- Không như du lịch hàng không và đôi khi là du lịch đường sắt, đi xe buýt không cần phải đến bến xe buýt quá sớm. Check-in, ngay cả trên các tuyến quốc tế, không mất nhiều thời gian. Hạn mức hành lý thường rất thân thiện với khách du lịch; và phí cho hành lý bổ sung thường không cao lắm.
- Vé xe buýt thường phải chăng hơn so với vé máy bay hoặc tàu nhanh. Luôn có sự lựa chọn hạng vé phù hợp với mọi túi tiền. Các tùy chọn tiêu chuẩn rẻ hơn có thể hơi chậm và không mang lại sự thoải mái hàng đầu, nhưng cũng có thể chấp nhận được và đưa bạn đến đích. Trên các tuyến đường dài hơn, nhà vệ sinh hoặc điểm dừng xả hơi cũng như đồ ăn nhẹ, nước và đôi khi đồ vệ sinh cá nhân và chăn hầu như luôn được bao gồm trong giá.

Nhược điểm của du lịch xe buýt
- Các bến xe buýt liên tỉnh mới hơn thường được đặt bên ngoài thành phố gần các đường cao tốc lớn, để cho phép xe buýt tránh tắc nghẽn thành phố. Thật không may, nó cũng có thể tạo ra nhiều thách thức hơn cho khách du lịch. The bus left Luang Prabang 3.5 hours late and arrived in Vang Vieng 4 hours late. The bus service had more people packed in than seats available so we each had very little room and after picking up even more people on the route I ended up with a stranger sitting in my feet. The roads they drove down could barely even be called roads with us getting stuck multiple times but I guess that's not the bus's fault

Good communication from 12go company re confirmation. The ticket was delivered to my hotel (by Nualang (hadn't needed to print the voucher out which meant a waste of people's time getting hotel to do it). Minibus pickup was exactly on time. However, it was 90 mins earlier than necessary to catch the train - Luang Prabang train station is sterile and barren. Huge building but nothing inside but hard seats- can't even get water let alone snacks. The Chinese train is OK.
Shame the only ticket bookable was after dark so no scenery to see. And there's a trick in the process where you end up with an 'insurance' price added - I didn't see an option way to 'unchoose' that in the process.
There was a price printed on the ticket that is way less than I paid.

The service itself was fine, but confirming and receiving the tickets was a nightmare. Someone came to drop our train tickets the day before, only to be called an hour later to say they are the wrong ones and we had to wait where we were until the others could be dropped off. A massive inconvenience and not ideal to be texted/called all the time. Pick up time was not clear and we arrived at the train station far too early. Massively over priced as well, and 12go is not accurate in that you HAVE to book train tickets 3 days in advance. Book with your hostel-cheaper and more convenient.

Es sollten 11 Stunden Fahrzeit werden, wurden aber 17. Okay, für die Pannen kann der Fahrer nichts aber auch trotzdem muss man für diese Strecke mindestens 15 Stunden ansetzen.
Der Fahrer war sehr hilfsbereit und freundlich, deshalb noch 2 Sterne.

The chauffeurs were helpful with filling in the documents needed to get into Laos. The bus was clean, enough stops for us to go to the toilet as wel, and we even got a little snack pack with a bottle of water, juice, and cookies, couldn't really expect more I think.
Sleeping was a bit hard with all the turning the bus had to do, but that's obviously just the way it is, can't blame anyone for that. And we even arrived two hours early. That was a bit annoying since it was 3am... But there were tuktuks waiting, so it was still easy to get into the city. But maybe take that into account when looking at accomodation.

It took over 2 hours longer than stated on the ticket, which wasn't helped by the flat tyres and the half an hour meal break the driver had in a shop that refused to serve any of the passengers.

Bus was on time and got us where we needed to be but it was a pretty awful journey. The bumps were so bad we were jumping out of our seats, but I guess that’s not the bus company’s fault. Would still do it again for the price

The service was good. There were three drivers that took turns on driving, which felt safe and professional.
We made toilet-stops about every three hours as well as one stop to eat something.
The Road was really bumpy and there were a lot of couves. If you're sick, lay down and try to sleep.
There is a toilet ob the bus, but it's hard to use, due to the uneven road ;)
I couldn't use my E-Visa because we didn't cross on one of the borders that allow E-Visa. Visa on arrival worked fine, though. You can pay the Visa Fee in different currencies, e.g. Dollars. You can also exchange money after leaving Thailand and before entering Laos.
The bus arrived in Luang Prabang earlier than scheduled.

The communication about the pick up was very bad. So we missed the bus we booked. We did go one later. The driver was al lot of time busy with bis telefone. That was very scarry because of the very bad and dangereus road. The minivan was old and the suspension also. It was the worst trip we ever made.

I had to change mini-van and move my baggage from one van to another because number of passengers was bigger than number of places and we waited 45 minutes to resolve it. Yet i do not consider it as big problem and in some way it was funny :)

Sleeper bus Monday and Friday only. Definitely worth doing this 17 hour journey on one of those days, for that reason. Bus was not 100% full, they granted my request to not share a bed since I was traveling solo. Driver was safe, border crossing easy. I am satisfied with the trip.

Pas assez de places pour tout le monde. Parfois 2 personnes par siège et des personnes installées dans l'allée du mini van. C'est parce que nous disions tous "No more" que les chauffeurs ont finalement arrêté de remplir les véhicules.

Really good service, driver turned up at 09.30 and we were told to be ready for nine for a 10.00 bus so we were prepared for that. He literally just scanned my QR code on the email into his phone to swap the tickets and we got in a tuk tuk to the bus station with others that had been picked up from their hotel. Bus was waiting for us our bags were quickly transferred and we were off to van vieng. The road is VERY VERY bumpy and winding, I would advise travel sickness tablets. But the driver did well to navigate safely and we arrived early into van vieng (was meant to be 10.00-16.00 we arrived at 14.40). Would book again with this company. Only bad thing was we only stopped once for a toilet break, but as we arrived so early it was fine in the end.

Wir saßen in der ganz hinteren Reihe, konnten unsere Lehnen also nicht einmal minimal verstellen, hatten am Ende also Rückenschmerzen. Dazu haben die Leute vor uns ihre Sitze so weit nach hinten gemacht, dass wir absolut keinen Platz für unsere Beine hatten.

It was one of the safest journeys we’ve done as the driver was driving very slowly compared to others. It took very long though and on top of that we stopped so many times, many of them to buy things from the road side for the front passengers which was a bit confusing. There was not much dialogue about which bus to get and where to get off.

The way to Vang Vieng is through the mountains, so the road is windy and also full of potholes. Our driver was speeding like crazy through the hills and towns, even in the curves up on the cliffs sometimes! When he started talking on the phone with one hand on the wheel I started praying to God and I'm not even religious. Our whole group were scared for our lives. Absolutely ridiculous! The only good thing was that we arrived early so we could get out of the car. Honestly would not mind the trip taking twice as long if the driving was safe!
On the plus side the car we drove in was really nice and we had a pit stop for about 20 min.

This trip was fine. But we were meant to leave at 15 and ended up leaving at 16:30, so we were just waiting around for a long time. Also, the journey took longer than 6 hours, which was quite annoying because the road was very windy as well. But overall, it was fine. We stopped a couple times for toilet and food and we got to the place we wanted to go.

We had our hotel confirm they were coming to pick us up and they give us a range of time to be ready 7:30am to 8:30am. They sent a tukt tuk to pick up my wife and I at 7:30am that then went around town to pick up others as well. Little after 8am we were dropped off at a bus depot. You then exchange your printed out ticket for one of theirs and get load on to a large van with your luggage on top. The ride was long and winding but as expected. We were on the road by 9:30am and arrived to Vang Vieng around 2pm. They dropped us off at some parking lot that is in the middle of town, about 10min walk for us to our hotel or 10,000 kip pp tuk tuk ride. If you chill and relax and know that they will get you to your location on a decent time, everything is fine. I would not try to plan any activities on the day of travel as things can get delayed and the roads are not the best. There was lots of constructions and sections of the "road" that was not paved, leaving the driver to go much slower. If you are one to possibly get car sick be sure to take some Dramamine before the van leaves the depot. They do stop at least once for a 15-20min break to use the bathroom and have lunch.

we didn’t get collected from our hotel till 9.50 after our hotel calling the company and then we got charged extra for being out of town and we didn’t receive an email or call telling us this. You then get dropped at a bus station 30min walk from town. The minivan is very cramped with everyone’s luggage anywhere it can fit. However good driver and the van was clean.

Enfocándome sólo en el automovil hubiera sido más cómodo poder reclinar los asientos pero estaban todos los bolsos atrás amontonados. Recién saliendo de la estación hizo subir a 3 personas extras lugareños (4 si cuentan que iba un bebé de unos 7 meses), donde no quedaba dspacio y el cinductor le hizo un asiento improvisado en medio con 2 bolsos de los pasajeros sin preguntar.
Una señora iba escupiendo en el mismo auto varias veces.
En cuanto al camino, bastantes curvas y muchos muchos hoyos.
En general se agradecen las vistas y el transporte en sí.

Super bumpy roads & took longer than expected but the scenery was beautiful. If you don’t mind your head occasionally hitting the ceiling, the extra stops to pick up & drop off locals & want to enjoy the scenic views this is the ride for you!

The reasons for this negative feedback are cumulative.
- we left and arrived late (normally not a problem, it’s SEA, but this time I am unhappy).
- we arrived at the bus stop outside the city and the only option to go on was a flat-rate tuk tuk (20.000 kip p.p., because “everyone pay same”)
- we were picked up from our hotel in Luang Prabang and then told at the main bus station, that our hotel was outside the zone and we had to pay extra (10.000 kip p.p.) before we would get our ticket. Yes, 12go also states that this might be a possiblity, but also that we will be informed by email beforehand about this. We received an email informing us about our hotel being outside the zone half an hour after our actual mini van journey began. The lady at the counter was not open to talking to us, kept insisting we pay while sending text and voice messages on her phone (probably informing someone they had forgotten to send the mail) and processing other costumers ahead of us.
The day before we had called the local hotline to confirm our pickup time from our hotel (actually great call, helped us save some time by accurately letting us know when we had to be ready) and they also didn’t inform us of the charge. Overall not a happy customer, mainly due to the unfriendly service at the main bus station.
In general the journey from Luang Prabang to Vang Vieng was very bumpy- nothing the operator or bus driver is at fault for, just an information. We had several breaks, including a half hour lunch break.

Guter Fahrer aber seeeehr langsam. Wir sind noch nicht in Chiang Mai angekommen, es ist 14 Uhr 30 !!! haben schon 3 Std. Verspätung das ist lang, wenn man bedenkt, dass wir um 18 Uhr gestern abgwfahren sind. Kein Wunder, der Fahrer lässt den Bus jedesmal im Leerlauf ausrollen, sobald es bergab geht. Das geht evtl. Mit einem Auto, aber mit einem Bus....?

The staff of the bus company were not very helpfull, rude and did not speak any English. The bus seats were very small so I could not strech my legs. The address of the place where we were dropped in Hanoi was totally different than on the company's webside which made it more difficult to figure out how to get to our hotel.
On the other hand we got an adventure which you cannot experience if you take a flight.

Prompt pick up, easy transfer at the bus stop, and an efficient drive to Vang Vieng. You can’t expect luxury travel in Laos but this option is definitely worth opting for. It can get a little bumpy due to the roads... but this isn’t at any fault of the company. The drive included a 45 minutes stop for lunch which I would have preferred to avoid so we could get there faster, but the rest of the minivan stopped and enjoyed so who am I to talk. Including 1 toilet break (about an hour and a half in to the journey) - 15 minutes, and a toilet/lunch stop (squat toilets and plentiful menu with snacks) - 45 minutes, the total journey time was 10am - 3pm (5 hours, would be 4 without stopping). Avoid the back two seats as they are in amongst the baggage and it can get very cramped, otherwise all seats were fine (as I said, not luxury but not “squished in like sardines” like a lot of reviews online suggest).

The ride and service level were fine. Took 1.5 hours longer due to mudslides on the road. Lunch stop was a bit of an adventure as only 1 person spoke English and all toilets were squat

check in agents customer service is very poor and unfriendly. At luang phrabang bus stations, I was given the run around and I was quite confused and ended up not having any transfer bus to Vientiane. another word, stuck.

Very prompt and efficient communications with the customer service team via texts and emails in the days prior and during checking in.
Bus arrived 2hrs before departure time. Bus crew effective and competent even while very busy loading commercial goods .
A couple of unexplained roadside waiting and a brief mechanical breakdown added to 1hr late arrival but not a problem with such an early scheduled ( 05.00) time.
Overall above average service for Laos and S.E.Asia generally in my extensive experience.

I bought a bus ticket online (plus insurance) from Udon Thani, Thailand, to Vientiane, Laos. On August 8th the bus left on time. But at the Lao border, we all had to go through immigration. It took just a little longer for me as a foreigner, however, because of the bus driver's impatience, the bus left for Vientiane without me. Had to pay double to get to Vientiane with a private 'taxi' driver. Any chance for a full or partial refund, since my trip was insured?
