Over Koh Tao Booking Center
Hoewel sommige eilanden nu per vliegtuig bereikbaar zijn of met een brug met het vasteland zijn verbonden, blijven veerboten de enige manier om enkele van de mooiste en meest verbazingwekkende eilanden, verborgen stranden of andere bestemmingen aan zee te bereiken. Grotere en langzamere autoveerboten vervoeren voertuigen en passagiers over de hele wereld, maar in bepaalde gevallen moet je kiezen voor een kleinere maar snellere speedboot of catamaran om je bestemming te bereiken. Deze laatste bespaart je weliswaar tijd, maar je moet voorzichtig zijn als je snel zeeziek wordt. Als de zee ruw is, zijn hogesnelheidsboten die daadwerkelijk de golven snijden een betere optie dan catamarans die in plaats daarvan op de golven varen en je reis dus veranderen in een wilde reis. Om reisziekte te voorkomen of te overwinnen is het raadzaam speciale medicijnen te nemen. Raadpleeg je arts vóór je vertrek. Neem aan boord zoveel mogelijk plaats op het buitendek.

Snelle veerboten zijn het duurst. Als je geld wilt besparen, kijk dan of er op je route langzamere opties beschikbaar zijn, want meestal zijn de tarieven veel betaalbaarder. Het is een vuistregel om de lengte van de reis na te gaan voordat je boekt. Op langere routes kan het verschil in reistijd enorm zijn. Merk op dat niet alle tarieven of klassen altijd beschikbaar zijn op elke route. Tijdens het hoogseizoen is het een goed idee om vooraf te boeken, aangezien de beschikbaarheid van duurdere privé-cabines vaak beperkt is. Kiezen voor walk-in tickets op de populairste routes tijdens deze periodes kan leiden tot lange wachtrijen. Sommige bestemmingen hebben meer dan één pier of verschillende pieren voor verschillende veerbootmaatschappijen, vandaar de aanbeveling om vóór je reis te controleren van welke pier je vertrekt/aanlegt. Laat voldoende tijd voor het vertrek om je boot te vinden en in te checken. Deze procedures kunnen op internationale routes een paar uur duren. Ten laatste, sommige pieren vragen een eigen betaling voor het gebruik van een pier aan alle aankomende passagiers. Deze vergoeding is normaal gesproken niet inbegrepen in je ticketprijs.

Voordelen van reizen per veerboot
- Met een veerboot kan je sommige eilanden, stranden of bestemmingen aan zee bereiken die anders niet bereikbaar zijn. Hoewel reizen per veerboot tijdrovend kan zijn en je soms last hebt van zeeziekte, compenseert de mogelijkheid om de meest paradijselijke, geheime, rustige bestemmingen te bezoeken die ze je brengen meestal.
- Veerboottickets kunnen online geboekt worden. Het bespaart je tijd en zorgt ervoor dat je reisroute verloopt zoals gepland. De optie om vooraf te boeken is vooral handig wanneer je reist tijdens het hoogseizoen, nationale feestdagen of lange weekenden wanneer er veel vraag is naar tickets en op routes met een beperkt aantal veerboten.
- Op sommige routes kan je de klasse van het ticket of de cabine kiezen. Er zijn privécompartimenten of standaardhutten met een aantal extra's al dan niet inbegrepen. Controleer altijd de voorwaarden van je tarief om het meeste uit je reis te halen.
- Reizen per veerboot is altijd leuk. Het stelt je in staat om de plaatsen die je bezoekt of die je passeert vanuit een andere hoek te bekijken. De meeste plaatsen zien er geweldig uit - en totaal anders! - gezien vanaf het water. Varen biedt een geweldige kans om mooie en unieke foto's en video's te maken.
Nadelen van reizen per veerboot
- De grootste zorg tijdens het reizen per boot is reisziekte, wat erg vervelend en onaangenaam is. Zelfs als je het nog nooit hebt meegemaakt, is er geen garantie dat de volgende reis per veerboot ook soepel zal verlopen. Ruwe zeeën en reizen per speedboot kunnen zelfs de sterkste magen om genade doen smeken. Volg onze aanbevelingen hierboven en neem je medicijnen een half uur voor de reis in. Een lichte maaltijd vóór de reis helpt ook - meer kans om zeeziek te worden met een lege maag.
- Vertragingen en annuleringen komen vaak voor bij veerboten, omdat ze sterk afhankelijk zijn van het weer en de toestand van de zee. Dit geldt vooral voor reizen tijdens de schoudermaanden of buiten het seizoen. Regen, ruwe zee en stormachtig weer kunnen je reisschema verstoren - probeer het flexibel te houden en plan geen krappe vliegverbindingen, zelfs niet tijdens het seizoen met 'meestal goed weer'.

Alles verliep soepel? Maar het busje tussen surat thani en Krabi was echt een hel. Omdat deze zo vol zat, zaten wij op het achterste bankje. Geen hoofdsteun, en het is al krap dus eigenlijk zit je 3 uur kreupel. Doordat de driver snoeihard rijdt beukt je hoofd constant tegen het plafond. Ook waren de backpacks zo gestapeld dat die hele tijd over ons heen viel. Hierdoor hebben we echt een shitreis gehad. Verder kun je er niets over zeggen

De busrit was vreselijk, 6 uur lang in een lokale bus, terwijl de airco het niet doet. Stopt bij bijna elke halte die er is, dus ja, zo duurt het wel 6 uur.

Ho prenotato in aeroporto verso Koh Samui leggendo per caso nei vari blog che era preferibile prenotare con anticipo i biglietti per raggiungere Koh Phangan, altrimenti si rischiava di non trovare posto. Ed effettivamente era vero, forse perché sabato. Fortunatamente sono riuscita a prendere penso tra gli ultimi biglietti disponibili. Raggiuto il porto sono andata al desk dove ho mostrato la prenotazione sul telefono e mi hanno emesso il biglietto vero e proprio, una specie di scontrino che poi mi hanno controllato all'ingresso della barca. Ho letto terribili recensioni su questo servizio delle Speed Boat, io ho viaggiato su un catamarano ed era comodissimo, nessun problema di nessun genere. In 30 minuti sono arrivata a destinazione. Sarò stata fortunata, in ogni caso è andato tutto bene.

On time, smooth, comfortable and kind staffs all the way from Koh Tao to Khao Sok. One will even barely aware there are different companies that make trip trip possible. It was rought weather in the boat, but the staffs in speed boat made sure all passengers had plastic bag ready for sea sick - they are so prepared and know what they are doing. Our van driver to Khao Sok was very kind to drop me to my hotel (about 1-2km further).

Can was quiet spacious for me. It wasn’t fully booked, so we had loads of room. Although I have heard it can be over booked sometimes.

een groot pluspunt is dat we optijd aankwamen. De bedden in de boot waren wel echt mega hard waardoor je niet echt kon slapen. Bij de boot werden we opgehaald om vervolgens ergens te wachten op de bus richting krabi. Hier werd ons aangeboden voor 100 bath naar het hotel te brengen ipv het busstation. Dit hadden we gedaan, vervolgens staan we bij het busstation en doet meneer alsof hij van niets weet..

Well the sleeper ferry is a fine experience. I think if it would have busier I would of liked it less as the beds are shoulder to shoulder but I had space between on both sides. However the van was where I had issue. There was not enough room in the van so I had to sit 4 ppl in 3 seats and was very uncomfy for everyone.

When I saw where I had to sleep, I thought the worst, but in the end it wasn't that bad.
You shoud let everyone know that you won't have your own bed, but you'll sleep with other people, all together, close to each other.
You can have your own bed, but not booking with asia12go I suppose, because all the person who where sleeping with me book thought the website, instead who slept in their own bed booked at the pier infopoint.
As I said, in the end it wasn't that bad, but still I would prefer to know it before booking.

The night ferry was a very nice experience, I have slept in my little bed with the sheet and the pillow provided (it is always cold in this case so think about), but also because it was not full (or could had been a more intense experience). There was some confusion from the transportation from the pier to the airport and we did it with an open old vehicle not a van as written, but at the end everything was on time. I could do it again

It’s just a boat to get you from a to b.. don’t put much else into it because it’s cheap. Also if it’s choppy and you sit by the window expect to get sprayed by the water.

Get to the boat about a hour early if you want any choice of bed!! Ferry was cramped with small thin ‘gym mat’ mattresses - probably about a metre space across per person. Also the girls next to me were top and tailing because they couldn’t find enough beds each, would have been useful to have a designated bed each because it was definitely cramped where I was. However experience was fine for what I paid and the crossing was smooth and it was an easy checkin.

Beds themselves were quite hard yet comfy and we got a decent sleep, we were next to the air con so a jumper was useful. Boat staff were very helpful unloading bags to the pier which was great as there were a fair few coconuts to climb over on the way off!

The transfer from the farry to the van seemed a little bit uncoordinated, vut everything was fine.
They'll charge you 50 Baht extra for the Hoteltranser in Khao Sok, but the maximum you'd have to walk is 2kms.

Take a sleeping pill before going on the boat, then it’s fine! The transfer in Ao Nang was chaotic, but everyone got where they needed to be. Had to pay another 100 baht extra to get to Railay Beach

It was rather late. Sort of a problem stacking people's luggage but given the boat. I'm not sure how much better it could have been done.
There is a matter I would take up with you. I also booked for what turned out to be a boat from Nathan Town, an hour away, that I didn't realize until too late. The Trip is a really big experiance! If you are looking for comfort you are wrong at this Trip. The bed are really close to the next one and the mattress was really thin. the toilets were so dirty that we didn't want to use them.
The ride during the Night was quite an peaceful so you can sleep the most time.
If you are looking for a adventure and shut two eyes regarding the cleanliness it is a good possibility to save an overnight stay and to use the night for the journey.

Very easy experience. Beautiful boat ride across to the other island. The booking experience was easy. The ride was on the slower boat, but it was a nice enjoyable ride. We had earplugs thankfully because the engine was very loud.

Die Nachtfähre ist ein Erlebnis wert. Alle sind sehr freundlich und man kann sein Gepäck früher abgeben und konnte sich noch Surat Thani Town ohne Gepäck anschauen. Denkt dran, Snacks und Getränke mitzunehmen. Kissen und dünne Decke bekommt ihr auf der Fähre.

The boat was okay, the beds were basically normal hostel beds, but from Suratthani to Krabi it was a bit shameful, especially for the price. First they took us by those trucks with benches in the back to the travel agency, we had to wait there for about 30 min, the personnel was not too kind and also didn't speak more than a few words in English. And the minivan was full, so they put me in the most uncomfortable seat, in the middle in the front, just because I am a short girl so I fit there. Also it did not have seatbelt and a headrest... They don't have the addresses which you gave to be dropped of at, so remember to remind the driver.
