Hoewel reizen per veerboot tijdrovend kan zijn en je soms last hebt van zeeziekte, compenseert de mogelijkheid om de meest paradijselijke, geheime, rustige bestemmingen te bezoeken die ze je brengen meestal.
- Veerboottickets kunnen online geboekt worden. Het bespaart je tijd en zorgt ervoor dat je reisroute verloopt zoals gepland. De optie om vooraf te boeken is vooral handig wanneer je reist tijdens het hoogseizoen, nationale feestdagen of lange weekenden wanneer er veel vraag is naar tickets en op routes met een beperkt aantal veerboten.
- Op sommige routes kan je de klasse van het ticket of de cabine kiezen. Er zijn privécompartimenten of standaardhutten met een aantal extra's al dan niet inbegrepen. Controleer altijd de voorwaarden van je tarief om het meeste uit je reis te halen.

Zelfs als je het nog nooit hebt meegemaakt, is er geen garantie dat de volgende reis per veerboot ook soepel zal verlopen. Ruwe zeeën en reizen per speedboot kunnen zelfs de sterkste magen om genade doen smeken. Volg onze aanbevelingen hierboven en neem je medicijnen een half uur voor de reis in. Een lichte maaltijd vóór de reis helpt ook - meer kans om zeeziek te worden met een lege maag.
- Vertragingen en annuleringen komen vaak voor bij veerboten, omdat ze sterk afhankelijk zijn van het weer en de toestand van de zee. Dit geldt vooral voor reizen tijdens de schoudermaanden of buiten het seizoen. Regen, ruwe zee en stormachtig weer kunnen je reisschema verstoren - probeer het flexibel te houden en plan geen krappe vliegverbindingen, zelfs niet tijdens het seizoen met 'meestal goed weer'.

The sea state was quite rough so the actual journey was a little bumpy but that's not the fault of the company. The captain did his best to keep to the timings without making the journey dangerous. I was primarily impressed that they managed to store all the luggage in the bow and they all came out dry which was a pleasant surprise. As a recommendation - if the sea is rough, sit on the inner seats inside as when the waves come over the boat, the windows leak and I did get a little wet from where the water came through but it wasn't that bad. Obviously, do not sit on the bow unless it's an incredibly calm day or you don't care about getting wet!

We have had a good experience. We went from Sihanoukville to Koh Rong Koh Toch Beach, but the boat has stopped at Longset Beach before, so keeping this in mind you can always expect some delays to the schedule shown in the booking. If you are flexible within a period of an hour you are fine. In our case going there and return we haven’t had any problems as we calculated some spare time. The boat ride itself was fun 👍

Not a good experience. We were meant to arrive at 11:30pm, we arrived at 3:00am. There was also bad communication from the driver when it came to changing vehicles when we crossed the border.

Easy booking, I could pay for the speed ferry ticket in Euro with PayPal. Once in Sihanoukville at Port Autonomous, I received the ticket from Island Speed Ferry Cambodia. I wish I had booked a return ticket instead of one way, I was worried about coming back from the other island, but at the ticket counter nobody really cares about the pier, the tickets are all same, you just have to tell them where you are heading to when you board the ferry. Island Speed Ferry Cambodia has the biggest boat of all companies. Unfortunately our 3:00pm boat to Koh Rong Samloem had a problem with the engine and stopped working about 10 minutes after leaving Sihanoukville, so that we had to wait about 20 minutes for a new boat to come and save us, luckily the sea was calm. After having to change the boat at open sea, we finally reached Koh Rong Samloem with 1 hour delay.

Information on arrival was not great. Tickets were stamped but no information about which Ferry we needed was given. Several ferries sailing, we had to guess which queue to stand in until we found someone to help. Crossing was great.

The boat was half an hour late leaving, and it takes more like 75 minutes than 45 minutes, so allow 2 hours if you need to make a connection. Boat itself was comfortable.

We ended up arriving at Sihanoukville way earlier than originally planned and whilst checking in they managed to get us on the earlier boat, so top marks there. The boat left Sihanoukville about 25 minutes later then scheduled so not really an issue, Saracen bay, Koh rong samloem ended up being the first drop off point and took about 30 minutes. Was a straight forward journey, check in point was where described along with all the other boat companies. They have a waiting room undercover incase of rain. Take snacks if you’re hungry as there is very little to buy at the pier unless you want/have time for a cooked meal just outside the gate.

The ferry was great and easy to get to the pier, however when booking it said it was straight to Sihanoukville but it actually stopped multiple times at two ports on koh rong, so we didn't reach the destination until an hour after the quoted arrival time, just be aware not to make any connections too close to the quoted arrival time.

Staff were dismissive and had a rude attitude. I asked when we should go to the boarding point to board the boat and they just laughed in my face and told me to sit down… everybody else on our boat was already waiting by the boarding point so not sure why we were told not to go over? Chaotic trying to get people on to the boat… people coming from all directions to just jump on. Ride was okay but we left 25 minutes late probably due to chaotic boarding organisation.

I booked a return from Sihanoukville to Koh Toch with 12Go ($36.65). It was actually booked as two single trips.
Due to Covid, I wasn’t able to visit Cambodia. 12Go refunded one of the trips (I received $16.64), but not both . I raised this with them, but they denied I had booked two trips despite me doing it at the same time and on the same payment.
After some back and forth conversation via email - including me sending a screenshot of my payment - I gave up and let them keep the money.
When I re-book for 2021, I will use a different company.

The sea was rather bad and some people were sick. The boat had to reduce its speed to face the height of the waves. Instead of 45 minutes, as written on the ticket, the trip was 1h30 long because we went to Koh Rong instead of doing a direct trip to Sihanoukville.

Pro: The ferry departed on time and the captain was driving carefully as there were many waves. Because of the waves many people got seasick, but they gave some plastic bags to them in case they had to vomit (which happend to some of the people). The organisation with the luggage of the passengers worked very well. There was no problem with my online voucher from 12go, i did not even had to print it and they accepted my ticket.
Contra: The schedule said we will arrive 45 minutes after departure, which was not true because we went from sanloem to koh rong first and only then to sihanoukville, so it took 2 hours instead of 45 minutes.

Erstens: das Zubringerboot fährt schon um 16:00 h, nicht um 16:15 h. Ich war rechtzeitig da. Es bringt dich nach Koh Rong Long Beach, aussteigen, die Fähre fährt erst um 16:45 h. Dann wird mein online ticket über 12go.asia nicht akzeptiert! Das kleinere Zubringerboot hat allerdings mein online ticket mit Buchungs-Nr. + Logo + Quittung sehr wohl akzeptiert! Ich mußte also bis zuletzt warten, dann wurde telef. und mit einigen Mitarbeitern von Island Speed Ferry Cambodia mein Fall diskutiert und man erklärte mir, daß man NICHT mit 12go.asia zusammenarbeite... da ich mich nicht abwimmeln ließ, den Geschäftsführer verlangte, und mich weigerte, noch einmal zu bezahlen... durfte ich dann einsteigen, gut williger weise! Angekommen ist die Fähre dann erst um 17:30 h, nicht um 17:00 h wie in der Buchung mitgeteilt wurde! Also alles in allem äußerst MÜHSAM!!!

The first part of the journey from Sihanoukville to Koh Rong was good then some technical issue appeared with the boat. My rating is not about it as these things happen.
My rating is based on the the communication from the crew which was very poor.
My main issue was: for some reason the crew made us to get off the boat in a different pier/stop regardless what my booking said. Instead of Long set beach we were told to get off at Koh Rong Island port, which was unnecessary (in my opinion) as the other one was closer to our hotel.

Comfortable AC boat that was spacious. Boat workers assist with luggage loading and unloading. The estimated arrival to Koh Rong Longset Beach was 12:43pm according to the ticket, but the boat left Sihanoukville ~20mins late and we only arrived in Koh Rong at 1:20pm. The ride was comfortable, just be prepared for a delay.

No explanation for 15 minute delay. Seemed they just didn’t get around to leaving. Then piled into a very small boat. No safety briefing. All the baggage up front in rain. Said no need for printed ticket then I arrived very early and staff more interested in their lunch and didn’t give me a paper ticket but everyone else seemed to have one and it was difficult for them to work out my eticket
