We did Cat Ba to Hue 16 hour bus. We don't really leave reviews for busses but thought it may help other back packers as it was a learning curve was this journey. First off you can buy a double bed between 2 people, and from how we read it, if we paid for 2 single tickets then another person may have been put in our cabin as the cabins are double occupancy, so we booked 1 double bed and used it for 2 of us (we are a couple). If you want a cabin each then it's possible you'll need to buy 2x double tickets. Also, if you go from Cat Ba then you will be getting on the actual coach on the mainland not on Cat Ba island. We had a taxi send for us and dropped us off at the ferry port, we did the ferry crossing (assuming free as we just walked on the ferry and waited 20 mins or so while we crossed then we walked 5 mins from the ferry drop and met the coach. From the taxi drop off though we had no clue on if we needed a ticket for the ferry (luckily not) or where the bus was meeting us so that could've been said to us before hand to avoid confusion, That been said it was actually okay for a 16 hour bus, we cosied up in the VIP cabin and napped, read and went on our phones and because it was through the night we got to Hue slightly earlier than expected, however we as dropped about 15/20 minute walk from the drop location that's shown on this 12Go web page as we booked a hotel very close to where we should've been dropped, that been said it was a decent journey. Just wanted to review this to help other people who maybe a little confused as we were when booking and actually on the journey.
