タクシーで旅するメリットとデメリット
メリット
- タクシーで移動は、混雑したバスターミナルや駅を避け、ソーシャルディスタンスを保つことができるので、パンデミックを警戒する人にとっては良いポイントになります。
- タクシーなら、自分の都合のよい時間に出発し、途中の休憩や食事も計画でき、最短距離でなくても好きなルートを選ぶことができます。ただしその場合は、事前に運行会社への相談をお勧めします。事前相談すれば、すべてのオプションを含めた料金を計算してくれます。相談なしの場合、最終的な請求金額が高額になる可能性があります。
- タクシーは、他の公共交通機関が通っていない目的地まであなたを運んでくれます。バスや電車が通っていない辺鄙な村や場所にも、タクシーならば行くことができるでしょう。ただし、事前に予約しないと帰りの交通手段を確保するのが難しいため、往復で予約した方が良いでしょう。
デメリット
- タクシーの大きな欠点はコストです。バスや電車よりも高くつくのは間違いないです。タクシーのような民間のサービスには対価が必要なので、コスト面については覚悟しましょう。
- 検索結果に表示される料金は、A地点からB地点までの乗車料金の正味額です。運賃の計算に含まれていない回り道や余分な停留所には、追加料金が必要です。追加料金を支払わなければ、そのタクシーは次の旅行者に割り当てられる為、運転手はあなたの要求に答えられなくなる可能性があります。
- 音楽を聴きたくない場合は、音楽を消すように丁重に頼み、会話を続ける気がないことを運転手に遠慮なく伝えてください。
- タクシードライバーは、渋滞あるいは悪路を避けるために、変なルートや細い道を使いたがることが多々あります。乗車中にGoogle Mapsで旅行経路を確認して、Googleの推奨するルートから外れているのを見ると、かなり不安になるものです。

Suraj was a very careful and professional driver. He was on time to pick us and he even stop do buy us a typical fruit of Sri Lanka and show us a Spicy and Plants garden on the way. The ower of the taxi firm was also impecable. He went in touch with us, to say who was the driver and the car and if it alls went ok.
Very good service. We recommend it.

We booked a transfer from Sigiriya to Kandy through 12Go Asia. The listing clearly said hotel pickup and hotel drop off, and because of that we had to enter both a pickup address and a drop off address when booking.
Quick note before anything else: the driver was great. Very friendly, drove carefully, no complaints at all about him. This review is only about how the transfer was organized, not about him.
Pickup went fine, he picked us up right on time at the address we gave. Drop off was a different story though. Instead of taking us to our hotels, all five passengers (3 independent groups) were dropped off at Kandy City Center. Everyone was confused, since we had paid specifically for a hotel to hotel transfer. That's the whole reason we booked it that way instead of just grabbing a tuk tuk ourselves.
When we called about it, we were basically told this was our fault and that they "always do it this way." That doesn't really add up though, since if drop off was never going to be at the hotel, why would they ask us to enter a specific drop off address at all?
We arrived around noon but I imagine getting left in a busy public area in the evening instead of at your hotel isn't great, especially if you're traveling alone and then have to find and pay for a tuk tuk on top of what you already paid for the transfer.
Bottom line: great driver, but the actual service didn't match what was booked, and the way they handled it afterward wasn't good either. If a proper hotel drop off matters to you, I'd double check this before booking.

The driver arrived on time and was quite amenable. The driving was a bit scary at times especially when he was overtaking, though I have to come learn that there is a specific way to drive in Sri Lanka.

The operator charged 3000 extra last minute as there were not more than two bookings and we have to opt for either a refund or private taxi … which was stressful however the taxi journey was comfortable

Hello, we needed a big car, we were 4 adults and 4 suitcases. So we paid for a big car for 8 people. But a normal car for 4 people arrived, so we had to put our suitcases on the seat above us. We paid for a big car, a small car arrived.

12go’s support was extremely slow . And the operator also was very stringent. I booked one from Lanka holidays and they easily made changes even location. Whereas this operator couldn’t even change a date. And wouldn’t even let me cancel . And 12go replied almost 6hours late so it was a terrible experience

By far the best taxi ride of our entire vacation. Samantha, our driver, took great care of us and was very friendly. We felt very safe and had a pleasant ride. Along the way, he even stopped when we wanted to take photos of the scenery.

During the 3.5-hour journey, the driver spent more than half the time on his phone, talking and texting unbearably! On top of that, he was pulled over by the police for running a red light. He kept insisting on asking me how much I'd paid for my future trips... Given these circumstances, I didn't leave a tip.

Booking is smooth. In 12go website specifically said that pick up from the hotel and drop off. Then the operator said it is pick up the just Kandy Center. Driver and the agency doesnt coordinate properly. We went roaming around Siguriya for 2 hours for another passenger. Which could have avoided if 1. Pick up is arrange properly and 2. Set boundaries for passenger that is he or she doesnt show up in 15 minutes time, she or he will be left. Also the car doesnt almost have AC. The driver keeps on saying because its hot outside. Where in fact its colder outside when you put down the window.

I booked a shuttle at 9am, 15 minutes before departure they reached out to me via WhatsApp und said we are waiting for a flight landing at 11 so we don‘t departure before they are through immigration and have their luggage… I had to pay 7200 to have a private driver that drove me at 9:45am. The man who drove me then was really nice and friendly and the car was good.
