We were scheduled to arrive in Mai Chau at 3:00 PM, but we didn’t arrive until around 5:30 PM, 2.5 hours later than scheduled.
This was a major issue because we only had one day in Mai Chau, and the sun sets around 6:00 PM. As a result, we barely had any time to see or enjoy the place. We essentially lost the only afternoon we had there because of the delay.
We understand that delays can sometimes happen, but a 2.5-hour delay is unacceptable when the arrival time is an important part of the itinerary. We booked this trip expecting to make the most of our limited time in Mai Chau, and unfortunately that didn’t happen.
Very disappointing experience and definitely not what we paid for.

After receiving exceptional service on all of our transport whilst in Vietnam for the past month, this journey was disappointing. We paid extra for a 3hr “luxury” bus and ferry, but we were put on a standard bus and took the speedboat instead of the ferry. The journey ended up taking over 4 hours instead of 3 and the bus was so busy that as a couple we were unable to sit next to each other. We supposedly arrived late due to the weather, but I am struggling to see how the weather impacted the time of the journey as we left everywhere on time and did not have to make any diversions as far as I am aware. I instead think that the trip was falsely advertised to us - we would have chosen the cheaper option if we knew that the journey would have been like this. We did not receive the trip we booked.

Changed our bus in Hanoi, first bus driver didn’t inform us about anything, probably because he didn’t speak English, bus had some beeping all night and he also drove pretty fast in bad weather and on winding road, so we couldn’t sleep a lot. But that was another company, as soon as Goodmorning Catba took over, we were informed about every stop, change of vehicles and brought directly to our destination.

The coordination was fine. We got picked from the hotel and drop off at the hotel. Everything was on time. The problem was with the driver. The ride was super dangerous and scary, he drove super fast and not safe at all. We almost crashed more then few times. He should not be a driver!

The trip started well with a nice limousine. However, it took almost two hours to leave Cat Ba because all the passengers had to be picked up from different hotels.
We also had to change limousine twice. The first time, we were almost left behind due to poor communication. The second time, we were put on the wrong bus and had to turn back and change vehicles again.
Throughout the entire journey, there was a general lack of clear communication from the drivers about what was happening, which made the experience confusing and stressful.

The organisation was very messy. We had originally booked the 2.30pm bus, but the night before our bus we got a call from the operator telling us that the bus would be delayed and that we had to change our booking timing and there were only 2 timings available (10am or 1.30pm), so we changed to the 1.30pm bus. After changing to that bus which cut short our time in hanoi, the bus still left late at 2.10pm.

With Good Morning Cat Ba company the experience was good but the the first part of our trip (from sapa to Hanoi) was with Sao Viet, even though on the website the entire trip was sponsored under the name good morning cat ba.
Sao Viet should really improve their safety policy and hire more professional staff .
And also provide more transparency regarding the fact that there are two different companies involved.

The bus was great and comfortable but the staff at the office in Sapa was RUDE. No smile no English, nothing.
The transfer time in Hanoi was way too long.
Hopefully they will learn to be friendly and adjust their schedule so that the trip only takes 8 hours instead of 12.

The bus was nice and the staff was great. But when I booked I chose to be dropped off at my hotel in Hanoï and unfortunately they said that this was not possible and that the office won’t change it on the website. I took this ride especially because I wanted to be dropped off at my hotel, but instead I had to walk. False information!

Organised journey however I had to change 3 buses for the journey Cat Ba- Sapa which made the journey long and tiring. It would be more convenient if the bus from Cat Ba entered the ferry and then continued to Hanoi instead of changing so many times. The speedboat was indeed fast but I had to carry my suitcase through stairs to get in and out of the boat with little help provided (I had a medium sized suitcase). Once in Hanoi had to wait for an hour until the bus departure which is okay I guess as you get time for lunch.

The transfer with Good Morning Cat Ba from Cat Ba to Hanoï was bad : difficult to have infos from the copilote, the bus had an engine break, we arrived at Hanoï with 2 hours of delay.
The transport from Hanoï to Sa Pa with Sa Pa Express was exceptional, infos were clear, the departure was on time and the bus was good.

We didn't arrive on time but with a delay of 1 hour on our way back.
The worse thing was that I felt very unsafe on our way back. It seemed like the bus driver was either drunk or very distracted by his phone which was placed in front of him and played videos. He couldn't keep a straight line on the railway which was very unsettling. Moreover, when we got off the ferry, he already started driving when not everyone was on the bus. That is very rude and discomforting.

The trip was very good, the guide during the bus and ferry ride always helpful and very friendly. We got picked up directly at our apartment, drove with a bus (also a short stop for snacks and toilet usage) to the harbour, onto a ferry without the bus, entered a new bus on Cat Ba Island and brought directly to our new destination location on the island.
The communication regarding the pickup point and time could be clearer, as you can enter an adress during the booking process, but this never appeared in the confirmation. We contacted the operator and clarified pickup time and place - then everything worked smoothly.

Seats are super small and claustrophobic compared to over 12 other vip busses I've been on because they do 3 rows but it's the same price as the actual nice vip bus. Bus left on time but we arrived very late due to unnecessary stops and bad driving. Constant honking and unnecessary bumps not taken with caution so no ability to sleep. Mosquitoes in bus biting you the whole time. No wifi like advertised. Overall very unenjoyable experience.
