One of the best things about bus travel is that you can almost tailor-make your trip adjusting it to your requirements for privacy and comfort. Different classes and types of buses cater to the different needs of travellers. The cheapest trips are normally offered by standard-class buses. They may be called local, express or ordinary. Pros of Bus Travel
- Bus is the best choice to get to destinations that are not connected by rail or planes. The network of buses often covers almost the whole country, and their routes are well and long-established.
- Opposite to air travel and sometimes rail travel, taking a bus does not require arriving at the bus station much in advance. Check-in, even on international routes, does not take much time. Luggage allowances are usually very traveller-friendly, and the fee for extra luggage, if limits are set, is normally not very high.
- Bus tickets can be more affordable compared to air or fast train tickets. There is always a choice of ticket classes for all pockets. Cheaper standard options may be a bit slow and do not offer top comfort, but anyway acceptable and bring you to your destination. On longer routes, toilets or toilet stops as well as snacks, water, and sometimes toiletries and blankets are almost always included in the price.
- If you are ready to spend more, some VIP coaches offer seating comparable to business class on a plane with wide soft reclining seats, blankets, fewer passengers, and many other perks to make your trip a pleasant journey.
Cons of Bus Travel
- Newer intercity bus terminals are very often located out of the city close to bigger highways to allow buses to avoid city congestion. Unfortunately, it may create extra challenges for travellers, too. Getting to such a terminal may be a problem as in some destinations there are restrictions on vehicles allowed to enter the terminal, and you will have to use special carriers to get there. This results in higher costs as prices may be inflated. Also do calculate extra time if you are travelling during rush hours, especially if you are not familiar with the traffic situation at your starting point.
- Buses are probably the means of transport which runs out of schedule more often than trains or planes. They are heavily dependent on the road situation which sometimes can be unpredictable – accidents, road construction works, detours, etc. This is especially true for travels during weekends, high season, or national holidays. Do keep this in mind and do not plan tight connections.
- Travelling on certain routes or during the most popular periods may require advanced booking. Bear in mind that it is not always possible to show up at the bus station and hop on the next bus – tickets may well be all sold out, so organize your trip accordingly.

Easy route. AC on bus needed to be better especially when its high 30s air temp. Stopping for a break an hour out of Thessaloniki seemed pointless apart from giving people time for a smoke. I’m ok with breaks but it would be good if we knew when they were coming and for how long. That break made the bus temperature get up to mid 40s as a result.

What a horrible experience. We got to our destination. Our bus driver told us that we were not on his bus even though it was in the platform that our tickets told us and it was the same company (Rule turs). We asked three times to be told, “no, not this bus, but don’t worry it will come” 2 minutes before this bus was scheduled to leave one of the drivers came over to where we were seated and said, “show me your tickets” and then said “Yes this is your bus”. Frantically we put our luggage under the bus and got on as he was preparing to drive away. In all the stress of this I left a piece of our luggage behind. The aircon didn’t work at all and being a full bus it was extremely and uncomfortably hot. The seats were way too close to together and when the person in front of us layed their seat back our legs were squashed. We were like that for the entire 9 hour journey. I hope to never experience anything like this again and suggest that others avoid this company if they can.

A Journey from hell. The fact that I arrived in Skopje. Quite a number of things. I did not like the driver smoking in the bus to start with. I also did not like that we were stopped at the border for over 2 hours and the staff, who barely speaks English, was not keeping us updated. The Bus’ AC could barely keep up and the bus was way too warm. People stank, but that’s not your fault.

Efficient and comfortable service. Arrived ahead of schedule, drivers did their best to get us through the various passport checks efficiently. Addiitional fees for having luggage and for being at the bus station (!) Why not build them into the online pricing? Online ticket has no warning that we need to print the ticket, and visitors do not carry printers. Online tickets should be acceptable.

Modern and enjoyable bus. For a night bus in a part of the world I’m not so familiar with this was pretty much perfect. Easy to find the right ride, modern and comfortable bus, well functioning airco, calm fellow passengers and a good nap on the way. Several border crossings made sleep less continuous than I wished for.

The man who assisted the driver was angry, rude and volatile. No air con. The bus was modern but they wouldn't turn on the air conditioning so it was stuffy and hot for the long journey. The driver assistant was angry and agressive all the time. No communication, you couldnt ask him a question, he would just yell! They smoked in the bus doorway at rest stops. When we got to kotor they wouldn't pull into bus station. They stopped on the road 1 block away and made us get out there and then get luggage out of bus in the traffic on the road.

Disgraceful. There was no Rul Turs coach at 11:00 am as advertised on the ticket - instead a by chance conversation with the "driver" (*who barely spoke English) of a parked people carrier turned out to be the ride to Skopje .. The vehicle had no Rul. Turs marking and was going from place to place picking up passengers. It purported to be the Rul Turs service and explained would be leaving at 10:30 am when my ticket was for 11:00 am. Total disgrace and a total con .. you ought to reimburse me 180 Euro or whatever I spent on this dismal booking.

Skopje to Kotor overnight bus. Got on bus at Skopje bus station beside central train station. Based off other reviews, we had printed off our online booking at our hotel. You must go to ticket office inside bus station beforehand where they will print off ticket to give to bus driver. Had to pay 100 denar “tax” at ticket office, can pay with card and they’ll give receipt. Bus was 80-90% full but comfortable, safe drive. Borders were overall straightforward. Had to get off bus and present passport at Macedonian border but for Kosovo, Albanian and Montenegro, we handed passports to staff and stayed on bus while they were processed. Bus arrived on time. As mentioned in other reviews, driver requested €1 per person charge to pay for big bags stored underneath. We did not have any denar / euros and drivers were annoyed with this but left us put bags in anyway. We Already paid a lot (€40) for ticket and no mention of extra charge on website. Likely this charge was going in bus drivers pocket. Bus driver assistant quite rude/gruff. Be careful you don’t sleep through stop because they will not delay in moving on.

Driver left of 1 hour late. We waited in the bus all that time. It seems like 12 hour trip on the website but only took 8 hours. We planned our trip according to 12 hour because site say so. We arrived so early everywhere was closed. Departing could have been later. The bus was very uncomfortable. Seats were small and narrow. It should be bigger seats for long journey like this. I dont recommend this firm to anyone.

Better than I was expecting. I would recommend this company to anyone needing to travel from Skopje to Podgorica. Tip: drink a lot of fluids the day _before_ your ride so that you can avoid having to go to the bathroom during your ride. Another tip: you have to go to the ticket office before your ride to show them the printout and get a ticket. They will then ask if you have a reservation, whatever that means. Even though my bicycle folded up, I still had to pay extra to store it in the luggage compartment. Fortunately, it was only 120 denars/2 Euros. The border patrol upon leaving Kosovo took everyone's passports and later gave them back. Though this may be more efficient, it sets precedent for the abuse of power. Of course this has nothing to do with the bus company. Just something to be aware of.

Interesting trip to Skopje. That we got there alive.. Sitting up the front of the bus and watching the driver drifting onto the other side of the road. the warning ⚠️ on the dash is there for a reason.. approaching Skopje one of the other passengers from the back alerted the driver to the smoke pouring from the back. a rapid change over to another bus finally got us to the destination terminal.. no explanation at any stage.. interesting.

Bus should be clean. The bus is right on schedule. Bought ticket online, print the ticket and waited for the bus at the station. Process was pretty smooth and easy. it was a nice experience!! The only complain that i have is the bus should be cleaner. The seat looks quite dirty and dusty. The overnight bus should have wifi for passengers.

Buena experiencia. El itinerario se respetó en tiempo y forma y los conductores encontraron la manera de comunicarse con nosotros en inglés. En un viaje de 10 horas, entre Pogdorica y Skopje, NO PUEDE estar cerrado el baño del bus o no funcionar. DEBE ESTAR ABIERTO Y FUNCIONAL dado que es mucho tiempo para los pasajeros. Aún así, se hicieron paradas. Pero esa situación no estuvo bien.

Partiti con un ora e mezza di ritardo perché la compagnia aspettava chi arrivava in ritardo. Tutto, mille soste inutili, pullman sporco, zero spazio , fermate degli autisti fiori programma per prendere dei pacchi lungo la strada, personale a Skopje che ci ha fatto partire con un ritardo di 1 ora e mezza per aspettare gli altri passeggeri, ho perso il treno perché siamo arrivati a Mestre con 4 ore e 45 minuti di ritardo, troppe soste pausa.
