About Blue Line

Bus is a convenient way of travel no matter whether you need to get to a neighboring town a couple of hours away or venture further afield crossing the whole country. Whatever your budget, buses have you covered. Express buses offer the most affordable ticket price for travellers who have very little money to spend. VIP options are geared toward those who do not want to compromise on comfort. Before you jump on a bus, make sure you choose the type of service which suits you best. For a long-haul trip look for a VIP or first-class coach which provides non-stop service to your destination or just call a minor number of stations along the way. Express or local buses in many cases may prove an acceptable choice for shorter trips, but longer rides are often not the best buy. Study the timetable before going as many long-haul destinations are served by night buses, and some offer wider seats or sleeper berths for such travels. Make an online reservation for your bus ticket with Blue Line. Other travellers’ reviews will help you to choose the best ticket and coach class.

Blue Line Ticket Prices & Bus Classes

One of the best things about bus travel is that you can almost tailor-make your trip adjusting it to your requirements for privacy and comfort. Different classes and types of buses cater to the different needs of travellers. The cheapest trips are normally offered by standard-class buses. They may be called local, express or ordinary. These are a good choice for shorter trips. Sleepers or VIP coaches are good both for longer and overnight trips. They may offer berths or wide soft reclining seats, sometimes with built-in massage options, blankets, soft drinks, and snacks, or more substantial meals on board or during toilet or refuelling stops. Travelling by night buses allows you to save on a hotel room, but to ensure the most comfortable ride do choose the class of your bus wisely. Prices always depend on the distance you ride and the type of coach. For some, even shorter trips, it is worth investing some extra money and buying a seat on a VIP bus as it can save you twice as much time as you spend travelling by an ordinary bus.

Travel by Bus: Pros & Cons

Pros of Bus Travel

  • Bus is the best choice to get to destinations that are not connected by rail or planes. The network of buses often covers almost the whole country, and their routes are well and long-established.
  • Opposite to air travel and sometimes rail travel, taking a bus does not require arriving at the bus station much in advance. Check-in, even on international routes, does not take much time. Luggage allowances are usually very traveller-friendly, and the fee for extra luggage, if limits are set, is normally not very high.
  • Bus tickets can be more affordable compared to air or fast train tickets. There is always a choice of ticket classes for all pockets. Cheaper standard options may be a bit slow and do not offer top comfort, but anyway acceptable and bring you to your destination. On longer routes, toilets or toilet stops as well as snacks, water, and sometimes toiletries and blankets are almost always included in the price.
  • If you are ready to spend more, some VIP coaches offer seating comparable to business class on a plane with wide soft reclining seats, blankets, fewer passengers, and many other perks to make your trip a pleasant journey.

Cons of Bus Travel

  • Newer intercity bus terminals are very often located out of the city close to bigger highways to allow buses to avoid city congestion. Unfortunately, it may create extra challenges for travellers, too. Getting to such a terminal may be a problem as in some destinations there are restrictions on vehicles allowed to enter the terminal, and you will have to use special carriers to get there. This results in higher costs as prices may be inflated. Also do calculate extra time if you are travelling during rush hours, especially if you are not familiar with the traffic situation at your starting point.
  • Buses are probably the means of transport which runs out of schedule more often than trains or planes. They are heavily dependent on the road situation which sometimes can be unpredictable – accidents, road construction works, detours, etc. This is especially true for travels during weekends, high season, or national holidays. Do keep this in mind and do not plan tight connections.
  • Travelling on certain routes or during the most popular periods may require advanced booking. Bear in mind that it is not always possible to show up at the bus station and hop on the next bus – tickets may well be all sold out, so organize your trip accordingly.

Crazy service. Every stop was on time. No WC in a transnational bus that drives 10+ hours; i had to pay extra 180 RSD for getting from bus station to the bus; i had to pay extra €2 for luggage.

Feedback. Comfortable transport. I was charged 2€ to store my bag under the bus. I didn’t mind the charge but I was not informed in advance. I had no cash with me and another passenger kindly offered me 2€ to enable me to take my bag with me.

Pleasant bus transport- The staff (driver and assistant) were friendly and could answer our questions - fast and safe driving - crossing the borders on the border control was really not complicated- nothing.

The bus was old (clutch nearly broken)and uncomfortable, we had very little space for the legs. Bad experience. We ended up having a travel of 6 hours (due to traffic jam)that was originally expected to be 2hours. It was extremely uncomfortable as we didn't had place for the legs, the AC worked poorly, no toilet, and the clutch was almost broken so every Time the bus started, it was shaking allover.

Extremely uncomfortable journey on an old bus. The bus was extremely uncomfortable with minimal air circulation and broken seats. Most of the seats were stuck in a reclining position, so that the seats behind were extremely cramped and uncomfortable. The overhead air vents did nothing to cool down the interior (it was 33 degrees outside), so when we got stuck in a traffic jam before the border crossing to Montenegro the air and heat in the back of the bus became unbearable.

Bus Standard AC, Blue Line, Jul 26, 2024
Not up to standard of commercial transport. My journey was from Kotor to Dubrovnik. Kotor bus station was poorly organised. As a result, the staff members appeared overwhelmed. I was met with a rude attitude by the Kotor bus station staff and was shouted at by one of your employees when I asked for assistance at the ticket office. Not acceptable. The state of the toilet facilities was terrible. The facility was not particularly clean and many of the urinals and cubicles were not serviceable. I had to pay to use these facilities, even though they were kept in a poor state. At Kotor, and other bus stations along the route, it was observed that passengers were not separated from bus parking areas sufficiently by staff members. When a bus arrived, distracted passengers loitering next to parking bays were nearly run over by busses attempting to park. In terms of value for money, I think it would be possible for your company to charge more, if a better service was delivered. I would certainly have paid more if that were the case. Having a toilet on the bus, having clean and organised facilities at the bus stations, and staff displaying professional attitudes would help a lot. Both the driver and co-driver displayed attitudes far below what is expected from commercial transport. The driver was constantly speeding and using his phone whilst driving. I observed him texting and using social media whilst the bus was travelling along the road on multiple occasions. The co-driver appeared to be addicted to nicotine, smoking at every opportunity and was rude to some passengers.

Nightmare journey. No toilet in the bus. Broken usb charger, chewing gum stuck in back seat table. Air conditioning very cold. Journey took approx. 9 hours instead of the scheduled 2.5 due to border control issues. This is obviously not the fault of the bus company however I believe that notice could be given of expected delays as following discussions, this appears to be a common occurrence. It resulted in a missed hotel reservation. I would advice anyone considering taking this journey to reconsider during the summer months.

Nice driver. Bus was quite clean. Everything was great overall, but we had to wait on the Montenegro-Croatia border for 2 hours, but of course this wasn’t companys fault. It is just something to keep in mind, that it can happen, that bus is 2h late.

Bus Standard AC, Blue Line, Jul 23, 2024
No air con in 36 degree heat. The drive was advertised as lasting 2 and a half hours. It lasted closer to 6 because of long queue (over 2 hours) at Croatia - Montenegro border. The driver did his best to keep us cool (temperature wise) but that was an impossible enterprise. An explanation of likely waiting time would have been appreciated. Absurd not to have air con on coach in this day and age. At least it should have been flagged up more clearly when we booked the tickets. Same applies to the 2 euro charge to stow luggage / suitcases.

Bus Standard AC, Blue Line, Jul 20, 2024
Took 6 hours longer than advertised- Driver was fine but there was an issue with tickets at the start of the trip causing a 30 min delay - it seemed that the bus was oversold as there were more people on it than seats. People had to get off - The border crossing between Croatia and Montenegro took 4.5 hours. I understand traffic is out of the control of the bus company but there should have been warnings that the journey may take 6+ hours longer than advertised. I heard people saying they had missed their check in to accommodation because we were on the bus so long.

Boarder between Crotatia and Montenegro. A 2.5 hour trip took over 8 hours due to the boarder. Bus was fine. The boarder crossing took over 5 hours. We missed our connecting bus and had to pay for a driver. We arrived in Kotor at midnight instead of 7pm. More warning needs to be given. The bus was fine but the delay was terrible and expensive. We would have caught the ferry to Budva if we knew it would be so bad.

The bus was like a sauna: No cold AC in July. The bus arrived safely. The bus just blew warm air out of the vents, as obviously the AC cooling unit was broken or turned off. The entire ride was uncomfortable as we all sweat, and the smell from other passengers was terrible since the windows don’t open.

Horror trip from Kotor. Bus scheduled to arrive in Dubrovnik at 11:00 but arrived at 12:34. We were booked on bus to Split at 12:30 which left on time. Told we needed to buy NEW ticket to Split leaving at 2:15. Sold a ticket which went on slow coastal route to Split. Did not arrive in Split until 8:45. This was 12 hours after leaving Kotor. So very dreadful and EXPENSIVE bus service from YOU. SLOW trip with no explanation what was happening !! Very crowded bus to Split with new passengers standing in ailse which should have been illegal.

The trip itself was good and the driver spoke good English. We had to pay for a Service fee at the station before boarding which was Euro2.30 each and then Euro 2.00 for each bag BUT it was cash and no bag tags were provided. I found it a little tough when I seen locals not paying it and the money was in cash and no receipt...

Border delays were not communicated to passengers. Ride and driver were perfectly acceptable. Border delays were not communicated to passengers. Our 2hr 15m drive took over 8 hours and apparently this is a regular occurrence in the summer. This information should be prominently displayed to customers when they are buying tickets. Had we been aware of this situation we would not have travelled by bus.

Review trip fro Herceg Novi to Belgrade. Bus was spacious and air-conditioned, allocated seating was provided based on online booking. Online ticket was required to be emailed to staff in Herceg Novi bus station, where internet coverage is terrible. Staff printed and charged 4 euro to do this, complete chaos. Paid driver 6 euro to place baggage into the bus so an additional cost of 10 euro in addition to the original cost. No wifi on the bus, for a 12 hour trip, no toilet on the bus, instead stopped at bus stops with putrid hole in the ground toilets and paid .50 euro cents to use. Would not recommend this trip to anyone.
