Supposed to take 3h 20 took 5h 30. Not because of the traffic but because we took the slow ferry. Did not drop me off at the hostel, although they confirmed they would in advance.

Driving was sketchy, no seat belts either. So had to hold on when the driver emergency broke many times. Not much leg room. But the guide was friendly, free water, restroom and snack break.

The transport wasn‘t as we have expected it based on the given information on 12go. The communication was very bad as the drivers couldn‘t speak a word English. At first, the meeting/pick-up point was not clear. Then the first bus dropped us at the ferry and showed us a very poor translated message on his cell phone who none of the passengers understood. Our interpretation was „Look for the other bus after the ferry“. So there was no clear instruction where and when we will be picked up after the ferry ride (you have to go on the ferry with your bags yourself by foot). After the ferry ride, we ended up waiting for the other driver without any information how he or the bus looks like and when he will arrive. After ten minutes a black van arrived which drove us to Ninh Binh. The seats weren‘t as comfortable as expected. The bags hardly fit in. And the two of us ended up sitting on the front seats. The transport itself was okay, but the driver was more interested in his cellphone than to drive the van. He spent the whole drive with texting and talking (loudly) with his contacts. The price don‘t equates with the service.

The bus was late and also the driver didn't inform us of the breaks he was going to take. We arrived almost 2hours later.

For the price I paid (far more expensive than other companies, I discovered that later) the ride was not great, the bus seats were very uncomfortable with very small leg space. The bus should have arrived at about 16.30 but it was almost 2 hours late.
